建筑美创作的评价机制

从哲学和审美的角度，对建筑美创作的评价机制的性质、内容进行了系统的探讨，认为建筑创作是特殊的商品生产，建筑美创作的评价是一个审美过程，结合审美主体提出了“审美域”；把建筑美的创作评价看作一个动态系统，结合创作主体提出了“评价域”，最终结合建筑方案的评选，提出了建筑美创作的评价曲线，具有一定的实用价值和决策作用．     

Mathematical study of trade-off relations in logistics systems

This paper presents a mathematical model of trade-off relations arising in third party logistics using Pareto optimal solutions for multi-objective optimization problems. The model defines an optimal set of distribution costs and service levels constituting a trade-off relation. An analogy to the concept of the indifference curve in the field of economics is discussed. Numerical experiments for a simplified problem are performed, demonstrating an increasing process of the utility of logistics.     

Describing the soil physical characteristics of soil samples with cubical splines

The Mualem-Van Genuchten equations have become very popular in recent decades. Problems were encountered fitting the equations’ parameters through sets of data measured in the laboratory: parameters were found which yielded results that were not monotonic increasing or decreasing. Due to the interaction between the soil moisture retention and the hydraulic conductivity relationship, some data sets yield a fit that seems not to be optimal. So the search for alternatives started. We ended with the cubical spline approximation of the soil physical characteristics. Software was developed to fit the spline-based curves to sets of measured data. Five different objective functions are tested and their results are compared for four different data sets. It is shown that the well-known least-square approximation does not always perform best. The distance between the measured points and the fitted curve, as can be evaluated numerically in a simple way, appears to yield good fits when applied as a criterion in the optimization procedure. Despite an increase in computational effort, this method is recommended over the least square method.

On the existence of minimum contrast estimates in binary response model

When random samples are drawn from a 3-parameter distribution with a shifted origin and the observations corresponding to each sample are binary, criteria for the existence of minimum contrast estimates are given. These criteria can be drived by a method, called the probability contents boundary analysis. The probabilities of the existence of maximum likelihood estimates and least squares estimates are evaluated, by simulation with 1000 replications, in the case where the underlying distribution is a 3-parameter lognormal distribution or a 3-parameter loglogistic distribution.     

Electron spin resonance study of γ-irradiated poly(methacrylic acid)

Low temperature relaxations in poly(methacrylic acid) (PMAA) have been studied by electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy. The observed 8 line ESR spectra of irradiated PMAA in the temperature range 77-300K (LNT-RT) is attributed to the free radicals of the type ～ CH₂? CH? CH₃. Assignment of ESR spectra to free radicals has been made on the basis of magnetic parameters employed to simulate ESR spectra at different temperatures. Further, ESR spectra below LNT have been simulated, using the set of parameters employed to simulate the experimental spectrum at LNT. Magnetic parameters of the ESR spectra at LNT and below LNT indicate γ- and δ-relaxations of PMMA chains. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

On the Curve X(9)

Computations using theta functions with characteristic show that the modular curve X(9) is the complete intersection of two cubics. The holomorphic differentials and Weierstrass gap sequence are also computed.     

Sorption and diffusion of gases in a polyimide

Sorption and diffusion of gases (CO₂, N₂, and He) in a polyimide (PI2080) film were measured by using an apparatus which gives the sorption rate curves from the initial state to the equilibrium state. Nonlinear isotherms observed for CO₂ sorption were interpreted successfully in terms of the dual-mode model for sorption in glassy polymers. Linear isotherms observed for N₂ and He seemed to obey Henry's law. Two diffusion coefficients (D_I and D_E) were obtained using the short-time method and the long-time method for a Fickian diffusion model, together with the equilibrium solubility (C_e) from each experiment. The initial sorption rate curves agreed with the calculated curves using D_I, however near sorption equilibrium the curves are in accord with the calculated curves using D_E. These observations suggest that some relaxation process is superimposed on the diffusion process. The non-Fickian transport data were correlated successfully with a model that combines time-dependent diffusion and the Fickian model.
