On the polynomial-space completeness of intuitionistic propositional logic

Optimal Operations Management and Network Planning of a District Heating System with a Combined Heat and Power Plant

District heating plants are becoming more common in European cities. These systems make it possible to furnish users with warm water while locating the production plants in the outskirts having the double benefit of lowering the impact of pollution on the center of the city and achieving better conversion performances. In order to amortize the costs throughout the year, the system often includes a combined heat and power (CHP) plant, to exploit the energy during the summer as well, when the demand for warm water decreases. A linear programming model for the optimal resource management of such a plant is presented and some results for a real case are reported. A distribution network design problem is also addressed and solved by means of mixed integer linear programming.     

On an Embedding Criterion for Interpolation Spaces and Application to Indefinite Spectral Problems

An embedding criterion for interpolation spaces is formulated and applied to the study of the Riesz basis property in the L _2,g space of eigenfunctions of an indefinite Sturm–Liouville problem u=gu on the interval (-1,1) with the Dirichlet boundary conditions, provided that the function g(x) changes sign at the origin. In particular, the basis property criterion is established for an odd g(x). Some connections with stability in interpolation scales are discussed.     

Hypothesis testing for the generalized multivariate modified Bessel model

In this paper, we consider hypothesis testing problems in which the involved samples are drawn from generalized multivariate modified Bessel populations. This is a much more general distribution that includes both the multivariate normal and multivariate-t distributions as special cases. We derive the distribution of the Hotelling's T²-statistic for both the one- and two-sample problems, as well as the distribution of the Scheffe's T²-statistic for the Behrens–Fisher problem. In all cases, the non-null distribution of the corresponding F-statistic follows a new distribution which we introduce as the non-central F-Bessel distribution. Some statistical properties of this distribution are studied. Furthermore, this distribution was utilized to perform some power calculations for tests of means for different models which are special cases of the generalized multivariate modified Bessel distribution, and the results compared with those obtained under the multivariate normal case. Under the null hypothesis, however, the non-central F-Bessel distribution reduces to the central F-distribution obtained under the classical normal model.

Stability of solutions to Hilbert boundary value problem under perturbation of the boundary curve

In this paper, the authors discuss the stability of the solutions to Hilbert boundary value problem under perturbation of the unit circle. When the index of this problem is non-negative, by extending Lavrentjev's conformal mapping on a region approximating to a unit disc, we show the solutions are stable under small perturbations. For negative index we give a conception of quasi-solution and discuss its stability correspondingly.
