In this Letter, we present a new optimal velocity difference model for a car-following theory based on the full velocity difference model. The linear stability condition of the new model is obtained by using the linear stability theory. The unrealistically high deceleration does not appear in OVDM. Numerical simulation of traffic dynamics shows that the new model can avoid the disadvantage of negative velocity occurred at small sensitivity coefficient λ in full velocity difference model by adjusting the coefficient of the optimal velocity difference, which shows that collision can disappear in the improved model. 相似文献

By using the discrete Markov chain method, Parrondo’s paradox is studied by means of theoretical analysis and computer simulation, built on the case of game AB played in alternation with modulus M=4. We find that such a case does not have a definite stationary probability distribution and that payoffs of the game depend on the parity of the initial capital. Besides, this paper reveals the phenomenon that “processing in order produces non-deterministic results, while a random process produces deterministic results”. The quantum game method is used in a further study. The results show that the explanation of the game corresponding to a stationary probability distribution is that the probability of the initial capital has reached parity. 相似文献

This paper aims to set up and solve a multi-period stochastic portfolio optimization model from an airline company’s point of view, considering all the specific European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) regulatory, managerial and trading constraints (i.e. physical constraints). Our contribution to existing academic literature is multiple. As the first ever case, we apply this technique to the aviation sector, a newly included sector within the EU ETS. More than mainly incorporating physical and technical (‘engineering’) features and focusing on short-term planning issues, we particularly address financial features and focus on mid-term planning issues. Therefore, instead of using spot prices, we run Monte Carlo simulations of correlated geometric Brownian motions (GBM) for traded futures prices of various emission allowance types for different CO2 delivery time periods. We thereby specifically refer to the existing exchange-traded emission allowance types EU Emission Allowance (EUA) and Certified Emission Reduction (CER). By implementing actually valid and real-world-oriented regulatory constraints for EU ETS, namely managerial and trading constraints, our model implies a real-life application. We also highlight the possibility of banking and borrowing of emission allowances between CO2 compliance periods, which is a crucial regulatory feature of EU ETS. 相似文献

In this paper a model comparison approach based on material flow systems is investigated that is divided into a microscopic and a macroscopic model scale. On the microscopic model scale particles are simulated using a model based on Newton dynamics borrowed from the engineering literature. Phenomenological observations lead to a hyperbolic partial differential equation on the macroscopic model scale. This article proposes a Modeling and Simulation (M&S) formalism using Model Theory. The article departs from the premise that M&S is the science that studies the nature of truth using models and simulations. Truth in models and simulations is relative as they seek to answer specific modeling questions. Consequently, truth in M&S is relative because every model is a purposeful abstraction of reality. We use Model Theory to express the proposed formalism because it is built from the premise that truth is relative. The proposed formalism allows us to: (1) deduce formal definitions and explanations of areas of study in M&S, including conceptual modeling, validity, and interoperability, and (2) gain insight into which tools can be used to semi‐automate validation and interoperation processes. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
