A finite volume large eddy simulation–conditional moment closure (LES-CMC) numerical framework for premixed combustion developed in a previous studyhas been extended to account for differential diffusion. The non-unity Lewis number CMC transport equation has an additional convective term in sample space proportional to the conditional diffusion of the progress variable, that in turn accounts for diffusion normal to the flame front and curvature-induced effects. Planar laminar simulations are first performed using a spatially homogeneous non-unity Lewis number CMC formulation and validated against physical-space fully resolved reference solutions. The same CMC formulation is subsequently used to numerically investigate the effects of curvature for laminar flames having different effective Lewis numbers: a lean methane–air flame with Leeff = 0.99 and a lean hydrogen–air flame with Leeff = 0.33. Results suggest that curvature does not affect the conditional heat release if the effective Lewis number tends to unity, so that curvature-induced transport may be neglected. Finally, the effect of turbulence on the flame structure is qualitatively analysed using LES-CMC simulations with and without differential diffusion for a turbulent premixed bluff body methane–air flame exhibiting local extinction behaviour. Overall, both the unity and the non-unity computations predict the characteristic M-shaped flame observed experimentally, although some minor differences are identified. The findings suggest that for the high Karlovitz number (from 1 to 10) flame considered, turbulent mixing within the flame weakens the differential transport contribution by reducing the conditional scalar dissipation rate and accordingly the conditional diffusion of the progress variable.  相似文献

在考虑调制场和本底场之间有能量交换的情况下,研究了小尺度调制场的非线性演化过程,结果表明,受到小尺度调制的光束在传输过程中有可能经历周期性成丝过程,通过与Bespalov-Talanov(B-T)关于成丝的线性理论比较,发现B-T理论给出的最快增长频率和临界频率等结果在非线性演化过程中仍然是适用的,但其给出的调制增长纺只在调制场的初始增长阶段与本文的非线性理论一致,此后,调制场的增长速度低于指数形式的增长速率,达到某个最大值后将经历周期性变化过程。  相似文献

A compact portable vacuum‐compatible chamber designed for surface X‐ray scattering measurements on beamline ID01 of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility, Grenoble, is described. The chamber is versatile and can be used for in situ investigation of various systems, such as surfaces, nanostructures, thin films etc., using a variety of X‐ray‐based techniques such as reflectivity, grazing‐incidence small‐angle scattering and diffraction. It has been conceived for the study of morphology and structure of semiconductor surfaces during ion beam erosion, but it is also used for the study of surface oxidation or thin film growth under ultra‐high‐vacuum conditions. Coherent X‐ray beam experiments are also possible. The chamber is described in detail, and examples of its use are given.  相似文献

Solid iron compounds are extremely common in the environment as well as in meteorites and comets. Fe K‐edge XANES (X‐ray absorption near‐edge structure) measurements can be carried out quickly, theoretically allowing one to categorize many areas within a sample or set of samples in a short time. However, interpretation of such data is not straightforward unless one has the appropriate reference spectra, hence a way of classifying an unknown spectrum to a family group (trivalent, divalent, oxide, silicate etc.) is required. Methods of abstracting Fe XANES spectra to produce pairs of variables which, when plotted, cluster in distinct regions depending on the family are presented. For instance, divalent minerals fall in a different region than trivalent minerals, and sulfides in a different region than oxides.  相似文献

A new scattering technique in grazing‐incidence X‐ray diffraction geometry is described which enables three‐dimensional mapping of reciprocal space by a single rocking scan of the sample. This is achieved by using a two‐dimensional detector. The new set‐up is discussed in terms of angular resolution and dynamic range of scattered intensity. As an example the diffuse scattering from a strained multilayer of self‐assembled (In,Ga)As quantum dots grown on GaAs substrate is presented.  相似文献

Adsorption of 4,4′‐thiobisbenzenethiol (4,4′‐TBBT) on a colloidal silver surface and a roughened silver electrode surface was investigated by means of surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) for the first time, which indicates that 4,4′‐TBBT is chemisorbed on the colloidal silver surface as dithiolates by losing two H‐atoms of the S H bond, while as monothiolates on the roughened silver electrode. The different orientations of the molecules on both silver surfaces indicate the different adsorption behaviors of 4,4′‐TBBT in the two systems. It is inferred from the SERS signal that the two aromatic rings in 4,4′‐TBBT molecule are parallel to the colloidal silver surface as seen from the disappearance of νC H band (3054 cm−1), which is a vibrational mode to be used to determine the orientation of a molecule on metals according to the surface selection rule, while on the roughened silver electrode surface they are tilted to the surface as seen from the enhanced signal of νC H. The orientation of the C‐S bond is tilted with respect to the silver surface in both cases as inferred from the strong enhancement of the νC S. SERS spectra of 4,4′‐TBBT on the roughened silver electrode with different applied potentials reveal that the enhancement of 4,4′‐TBBT on the roughened silver electrode surface may be related to the chemical mechanism (CM). More importantly, the adsorption of 4,4′‐TBBT on the silver electrode is expected to be useful to covalently adsorb metal nanoparticles through the free S H bond to form two‐ or three‐ dimensional nanostructures. The quest for enhanced light‐matter interactions has enabled a tremendous increase in the performance of photonic‐crystal nanoresonators in the past decade. State‐of‐the‐art nanocavities now offer mode lifetime in the nanosecond range with confinement volumes of a few hundredths of a cubic micrometer. These results are certainly a consequence of the rapid development of fabrication techniques and modeling tools at micro‐ and nanometric scales. For future applications and developments, it is necessary to deeply understand the intrinsic physical quantities that govern the photon confinement in these cavities. We present a review of the different physical mechanisms at work in the photon confinement of almost all modern PhC cavity constructs. The approach relies on a Fabry‐Perot picture and emphasizes three intrinsic quantities, the mirror reflectance, the mirror penetration depth and the defect‐mode group velocity, which are often hidden by global analysis relying on an a posteriori analysis of the calculated cavity mode. The discussion also includes nanoresonator constructs, such as the important micropillar cavity, for which some subtle scattering mechanisms significantly alter the Fabry‐Perot picture.  相似文献

Photolysis of substituted thiophene‐S‐oxides in solution results in the formation of either the corresponding thiophene or furan, in addition to uncharacterized materials. No good rationalization is available for the choice of which pathway may predominate, but it is demonstrated that the photolysis of 2,5‐bistrimethylsilylthiopene‐ S‐oxide produces O(3P) in the same manner as the well‐established photolysis of dibenzothiophene‐S‐oxide.
