Asymptotic Behavior on a Competition Model Arising from an Unstirred Chemostat

This paper is concerned with the unstirred chemostat model with two-species and one non-reproducingresource.The global attractivity of the positive steady-state solutions of the original system is established.Moreover,the effects of the growth rate on the unique positive equilibrium of the single population model arestudied.     

Fenchel duality, Fitzpatrick functions and the extension of firmly nonexpansive mappings

Recently, S. Reich and S. Simons provided a novel proof of the Kirszbraun-Valentine extension theorem using Fenchel duality and Fitzpatrick functions. In the same spirit, we provide a new proof of an extension result for firmly nonexpansive mappings with an optimally localized range.

利用不动点定理,分别证明了在自反Banach空间中极大单调算子值域扰动的抽象结论和在H ilbert空间中m增生映射值域的扰动结果,这些结论是对以往一些工作的推广;然后,利用文中的新结论讨论了一类微分方程解的存在性.     

On existence and stability in the theory of swelling porous elastic soils

The aim of this paper is to introduce a new functional in thestudy of swelling porous elastic soils saturated by a fluid.This new functional is a useful tool; it allows us to provethe existence of solutions in the case of a compressible fluid.We also prove the stability of solutions and the exponentialdecay in the case of an incompressible fluid. We study as wellthe continuous dependence with respect to the initial time.

设(X,d)是一个可分的度量空间,Cu(X,d)是由全体一致连续函数所组成的C(X,d)的子空间,T是定义在X上的一致Lipschitz映射,那么对f∈Cu(X),1/n n∑k=1 Uk If在Cu(X)上收敛.从这个基本结果出发,利用Cu(X,d)的共扼空间的表示定理,得到了相空间的Yosida型遍历分解;利用空间的嵌入技术证明了非一致Lipschitz映射的大数法则.     

Fixed point theorems for multivalued nonexpansive mappings satisfying inwardness conditions

Let X be a Banach space whose characteristic of noncompact convexity is less than 1 and satisfies the nonstrict Opial condition. Let C be a bounded closed convex subset of X, KC(X) the family of all compact convex subsets of X and T a nonexpansive mapping from C into KC(X) with bounded range. We prove that T has a fixed point. The nonstrict Opial condition can be removed if, in addition, T is an 1-χ-contractive mapping.

Determining Modes for Continuous Data Assimilation in 2D Turbulence

We study the number of determining modes necessary for continuous data assimilation in the two-dimensional incompressible Navier–Stokes equations. Our focus is on how the spatial structure of the body forcing affects the rate of continuous data assimilation and the number of determining modes. We treat this problem analytically by proving a convergence result depending on the H ^–1 norm of f and computationally by considering a family of forcing functions with identical Grashof numbers that are supported on different annuli in Fourier space. The rate of continuous data assimilation and the number of determining modes is shown to depend strongly on the length scales present in the forcing.     

THEORY AND APPLICATIONS OF MONOTONE SEMIFLOWS FOR FUNCTIONAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS

The theory of monotone semiflows has been widely applied to functional differential equations (FDEs). The studies on the theory and applications of monotone semiflows for FDEs are very important and interesting. A brief des-cription of our recent works are as follows.By using general monotone semiflow theory, several results of positively invariant sets, monotone solutions and contracting rectangles of retarded functional differential equations(RFDEs) with infinite delay are gained under the assumption of quasimonotonicity; sufficient conditions for the existence, un-iqueness and global attractivity of periodic solutions are also established by combining the theory of monotone semiflows for neutral functional differential equations(NFDEs) and Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem.
