A generalized probability density function (PDF) describing the distribution of inter-inclusion distances in finite, isotropic, binary stochastic materials with fixed diameter inclusions has been developed and tested. The new probability density function explicitly accounts for edge effects present in finite two- and three-dimensional stochastic materials. The generalized PDF is shown to include factors that are dependent on both the geometry of the material region as well as the statistical properties of the material. A discussion of the properties and application of this newly developed PDF is provided along with supporting numerical results for case studies in one- and two-dimensions. These numerical results demonstrate the ability of the newly derived PDF to correctly account for edge effects in finite stochastic materials, while still reproducing the expected distribution within the bulk material region. 相似文献

The pseudoternary phase behavior of the water/sucrose laurate/ethoxylated mono-di-glyceride/R (+)-limonene systems was investigated for different surfactants mixing ratios (w/w) at 25 °C. The microemulsion boundaries were determined and the surfactants content at the interface of water- R (+)-limonene was estimated. For surfactants mixing ratio (w/w) equals unity, the area of the one phase microemulsion region reaches its maximum. The system with the maximum microemulsion area was investigated using electrical conductivity, dynamic viscosity, small angle X-ray scattering, and nuclear magnetic resonance. Electrical conductivity increases as the water volume fraction increases and a percolation threshold was observed. Dynamic Viscosity varies as function of the water volume fraction in a non-monotonic way giving two-peaked plot. The characteristics of the domain size of the microemulsions called periodicity measured by small angle X-ray scattering increases with the increase in the water volume fraction. The correlation length of the domain size reaches a maximum when plotted against the water volume fraction in the microemulsions. Relative diffusion coefficients of water increase and those of oil decrease with increasing the water volume fractions in the microemulsions indicating structural transitions. 相似文献

By using the statistical mechanics, the pressure tensor for the multi component fluid mixture is derived. With the help of the classical density functional theory, profiles of the pressure components are calculated, and the influence of the total volume fraction, ratio of volume fraction, and size asymmetry on the pressure are studied. In addition, our results show that for the mixture confined in the hard cavity, the pressure shows a discontinuity near the cavity wall. In our previous work (Hu et al., 2014), a method has been proposed to detect gas compositions by locating the acoustic spectral peaks, which can be detected only by two-frequency acoustic measurements in practice. However, as a ‘Detection Calibration’, the effective relaxation area (ERA) constructed by existing theoretical model cannot match the two-frequency measurements when there are more than one strong relaxational components in gas mixtures. This paper proposes a method to construct the ERA by coupling the decoupled single relaxation times together to a whole relaxation time. For gas mixtures with only one single relaxation process, the predicted ERA results match with the experimental data better than those predicted by the existing model. Moreover, for gas mixtures in which more than one relaxation process are significant, the ERA results predicted by the proposed method also match with the detection results of two-frequency measurements better than the existing model. This relaxation time coupling based ERA constructing method is validated by the application in low-quality natural gas detection. 相似文献
