Solving evolution equations using a new iterative method

In this article, we apply the new iterative method proposed by Daftardar‐Gejji and Jafari (J Math Anal Appl 316, (2006), 753–763) for solving various linear and nonlinear evolution equations. Vickrey–Dutch procurement auction for multiple items

We consider a setting where there is a manufacturer who wants to procure multiple items from a set of suppliers each of whom can supply one or more of these items (bundles). We design an ascending price auction for such a setting which implements the Vickrey–Clarke–Groves outcome and truthful bidding is an ex post Nash equilibrium. Our auction maintains non-linear and non-anonymous prices throughout the auction. This auction has a simple price adjustment step and is easy to implement in practice. As offshoots of this auction, we also suggest other simple auctions (in which truthful bidding is not an equilibrium by suppliers) which may be suitable where incentives to suppliers are not a big concern. Computer simulations of our auction show that it is scalable for the multi-unit case, and has better information revelation properties than its descending auction counterpart.     

CONVERGENCE OF IMPLICIT ITERATIVE PROCESS WITH ERRORS FOR A FINITE FAMILY OF ASYMPTOTICALLY NONEXPANSIVE MAPPINGS

The purpose of this article is to study the weak and strong convergence of implicit iteration process with errors to a common fixed point for a finite family of asymptotically nonexpansive mappings and nonexpansive mappings in Banach spaces. The results presented in this article extend and improve thecorresponding results of [1, 2, 4-9, 11-15].     

一致凸Banach空间非扩张映象带误差的Ishikawa型的三重迭代序列的收敛性

在一致凸Banach空间上,研究了半紧的非扩张压缩映象‖Tx-Ty‖≤‖x-y‖的Ishikawa型的三重迭代序列的收敛性问题,建立并证明了带误差的Ishikawa三重迭代逼近收敛定理,从而独特的推广了Mann和Ishikawa迭代方法,改进和发展了文献[1]-[7]的主要结果.     

Numerical solution of the nonstationary Stokes system by methods of adjoint-equation theory and optimal control theory

Methods in optimal control and the adjoint-equation theory are applied to the design of iterative algorithms for the numerical solution of the nonstationary Stokes system perturbed by a skew-symmetric operator. A general scheme is presented for constructing algorithms of this kind as applied to a broad class of problems. The scheme is applied to the nonstationary Stokes equations, and the convergence rate of the corresponding iterative algorithm is examined. Some numerical results are given.     

Improvement of Renormalization Group for Barenblatt Equation

We construct a Hartree-Fock (self-consistent)-like algorithm with renormalization group (RG) approach to calculate the anomalous dimension in a nonlinear diffusion equation. We find that our result improves the original RG work because we include the effect of Heaviside function.     

Modified families of multi-point iterative methods for solving nonlinear equations

We further present some semi-discrete modifications to the cubically convergent iterative methods derived by Kanwar and Tomar (Modified families of Newton, Halley and Chebyshev methods, Appl. Math. Comput. http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.amc.2007.02.119) and derived a number of interesting new classes of third-order multi-point iterative methods free from second derivatives. Furthermore, several functions have been tested and all the methods considered are found to be effective and compared to the well-known existing third and fourth-order multi-point iterative methods.
