The application of the displacement discontinuity numerical technique to the solution of some problems of fracture mechanics is demonstrated in the hypothesis of homogeneous and elastic material. The fracture is supposed to be free from traction and is represented by a set of constant displacement discontinuity elements, except for two parabolic elements, located at each crack tip, in order to simulate the singularity of the solution near the crack tips. On the basis of the stress and displacement field determined by the displacement discontinuity method, the stress intensity factors for mode I and II are computed according to the method of the displacements. Three examples are provided to verify the validity of the formulation.
Sommario Lo scopo del presente lavore è di illustrare l'applicazione del metodo numerico della Displacement Discontinuity alla soluzione di alcuni problemi di meccanica della frattura, nell'ipotesi di materiale omogeneo ed elastico. La frattura è supposta aperta ed è rappresentata da una linea di elementi a discontinuità di spostamento costante, con l'eccezione di due speciali elementi parabolici, ubicati agli apici, al fine di simulare la singolarita' del campo tensionale. Sulla base del campo degli sforzi e degli spostamenti cosi determinati, vengono ricavati i fattori di concentrazione degli sforzi in modo I e II mediante il metodo degli spostamenti. Vengono inoltre riportati tre esempi di calcolo, effettuati al fine di verificare la validità del procedimento proposto.

The local dynamic instability of autonomous conservative, lumped-mass (discrete) systems, is thoroughly discussed when negligibly small dissipative forces are included. It is shown that such small forces may change drastically the response of these systems. Hence, existing, widely accepted, findings based on the omission of damping could not be valid if damping, being always present in actual systems, is included. More specifically the conditions under which the above systems may experience dynamic bifurcations associated either with a degenerate or a generic Hopf bifurcation are examined in detail by studying the effect of the structure of the damping matrix on the Jacobian eigenvalues. The case whereby this phenomenon may occur before divergence is discussed in connection with the individual or coupling effect of non-uniform mass and stiffness distribution. Jump phenomena in the critical dynamic loading at a certain mass distribution are also assessed. Numerical results verified by a non-linear dynamic analysis using 2-DOF and 3-DOF models confirm the validity of the theoretical findings as well as the efficiency of the technique proposed herein.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the large-time behavior toward the combination of two rarefaction waves and viscous contact wave for the Cauchy problem to a one-dimensional Navier–Stokes–Poisson coupled system, modeling the dynamics of a viscous gas in the presence of radiation. We show that the composite wave with small strength is asymptotically stable under partially large initial perturbations. The proofs are based on the more refined energy estimates to control the possible growth of the perturbations induced by two different waves and large data.  相似文献

We present in this article a very adapted finite volume numerical scheme for transport type‐equation. The scheme is an hybrid one combining an anti‐dissipative method with down‐winding approach for the flux (Després and Lagoutière, C R Acad Sci Paris Sér I Math 328(10) (1999), 939–944; Goudon, Lagoutière, and Tine, Math Method Appl Sci 23(7) (2013), 1177–1215) and an high accurate method as the WENO5 one (Jiang and Shu, J Comput Phys 126 (1996), 202–228). The main goal is to construct a scheme able to capture in exact way the numerical solution of transport type‐equation without artifact like numerical diffusion or without “stairs” like oscillations and this for any regular or discontinuous initial distribution. This kind of numerical hybrid scheme is very suitable when properties on the long term asymptotic behavior of the solution are of central importance in the modeling what is often the case in context of population dynamics where the final distribution of the considered population and its mass preservation relation are required for prediction. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This paper studies the propagation of detonation and shock waves in vortex gas flows, in which the initial pressure, density, and velocity are generally functions of the coordinate — the distance from the symmetry axis. Rotational axisymmetric flow having a transverse velocity component in addition to a nonuniform longitudinal velocity is considered. The possibility of propagation of Chapman–Jouguet detonation waves in rotating flows is analyzed. A necessary conditions for the existence of a Chapman–Jouguet wave is obtained.  相似文献
