For an nonnegative matrix , an isomorphism is obtained between the lattice of initial subsets (of ) for and the lattice of -invariant faces of the nonnegative orthant . Motivated by this isomorphism, we generalize some of the known combinatorial spectral results on a nonnegative matrix that are given in terms of its classes to results for a cone-preserving map on a polyhedral cone, formulated in terms of its invariant faces. In particular, we obtain the following extension of the famous Rothblum index theorem for a nonnegative matrix: If leaves invariant a polyhedral cone , then for each distinguished eigenvalue of for , there is a chain of distinct -invariant join-irreducible faces of , each containing in its relative interior a generalized eigenvector of corresponding to (referred to as semi-distinguished -invariant faces associated with ), where is the maximal order of distinguished generalized eigenvectors of corresponding to , but there is no such chain with more than members. We introduce the important new concepts of semi-distinguished -invariant faces, and of spectral pairs of faces associated with a cone-preserving map, and obtain several properties of a cone-preserving map that mostly involve these two concepts, when the underlying cone is polyhedral, perfect, or strictly convex and/or smooth, or is the cone of all real polynomials of degree not exceeding that are nonnegative on a closed interval. Plentiful illustrative examples are provided. Some open problems are posed at the end.
We prove the global Markov property for lattice systems of classical statistical mechanics, with bounded spins and finite range interactions. The method uses the one developed by two of us to prove the global Markov property of Euclidean generalized random fields. Indirect magnetization transfer increases the observed nuclear Overhauser enhancement (NOE) between two protons in many cases, leading to an underestimation of target distances. Wider distance bounds are necessary to account for this error. However, this leads to a loss of information and may reduce the quality of the structures generated from the inter-proton distances. Although several methods for spin diffusion correction have been published, they are often not employed to derive distance restraints. This prompted us to write a user-friendly and CPU-efficient method to correct for spin diffusion that is fully integrated in our program ambiguous restraints for iterative assignment (ARIA). ARIA thus allows automated iterative NOE assignment and structure calculation with spin diffusion corrected distances. The method relies on numerical integration of the coupled differential equations which govern relaxation by matrix squaring and sparse matrix techniques. We derive a correction factor for the distance restraints from calculated NOE volumes and inter-proton distances. To evaluate the impact of our spin diffusion correction, we tested the new calibration process extensively with data from the Pleckstrin homology (PH) domain of Mus musculus beta-spectrin. By comparing structures refined with and without spin diffusion correction, we show that spin diffusion corrected distance restraints give rise to structures of higher quality (notably fewer NOE violations and a more regular Ramachandran map). Furthermore, spin diffusion correction permits the use of tighter error bounds which improves the distinction between signal and noise in an automated NOE assignment scheme. 相似文献
A general framework is developed to treat inverse problems with parameters that are random fields. It involves a sampling
method that exploits the sensitivity derivatives of the control variable with respect to the random parameters. As the sensitivity
derivatives are computed only at the mean values of the relevant parameters, the related extra cost of the present method
is a fraction of the total cost of the Monte Carlo method. The effectiveness of the method is demonstrated on an example problem
governed by the Burgers equation with random viscosity. It is specifically shown that this method is two orders of magnitude
more efficient compared to the conventional Monte Carlo method. In other words, for a given number of samples, the present

R. Thomas conjectured, 20 years ago, that the presence of a positive circuit in the interaction graph of a dynamical system is a necessary condition for the presence of several stable states. Recently, E. Remy et al. stated and proved the conjecture for Boolean dynamical systems. Using a similar approach, we generalize the result to discrete dynamical systems, and by focusing on the asynchronous dynamics that R. Thomas used in the course of his analysis of genetic networks, we obtain a more general variant of R. Thomas’ conjecture. In this way, we get a necessary condition for genetic networks to lead to differentiation. 相似文献

In this paper, poly(amide-6-b-ethylene oxide) (Pebax1657)/SAPO-34 mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) were prepared by solvent-evaporation method with acetic acid as a novel solvent. CO2, N2, CH4 and H2 permeation properties were investigated, and the physical properties of Pebax/SAPO-34 MMMs were characterized by XRD and SEM. At low SAPO-34 content, it was homogeneously distributed in the Pebax matrix, and then precipitated and agglomerated at high SAPO-34 content. The crystallinity of Pebax phase in Pebax/SAPO-34 MMMs decreased initially and then rebounded as a result of phase separation. With the increase of transmembrane pressure difference, CO2 permeability was enhanced due to the effect of pressure-induced plasticization. Owing to the happening of stratification, the CO2 permeability of Pebax/SAPO-34 MMMs (50 wt% SAPO-34) increased to 338 Barrer from 111 Barrer of pristine Pebax, while the selectivities of CO2/CH4 and CO2/N2 were almost unchanged. Compared with the pristine Pebax, the gas separation performances of Pebax/SAPO-34 MMMs were remarkably enhanced. 相似文献
