In this paper, n-degree continuous finite element method with interpolated coefficients for nonlinear initial value problem of ordinary differential equation is introduced and analyzed. The study of solutions to polynomial equations over finite fields has a long history in mathematics and is an interesting area of contemporary research. In recent years, the subject has found important applications in the modelling of problems from applied mathematical fields such as signal analysis, system theory, coding theory and cryptology. In this connection, it is of interest to know criteria for the existence of squares and other powers in arbitrary finite fields. Making good use of polynomial division in polynomial rings over finite fields, we have examined a classical criterion of Euler for squares in odd prime fields, giving it a formulation that is apt for generalization to arbitrary finite fields and powers. Our proof uses algebra rather than classical number theory, which makes it convenient when presenting basic methods of applied algebra in the classroom. 相似文献

We study those functions that can be written as a finite sum of periodic integer valued functions. On ℤ we give three different
characterizations of these functions. For this we prove that the existence of a real valued periodic decomposition of a ℤ
→ ℤ function implies the existence of an integer valued periodic decomposition with the same periods. This result depends
on the representation of the greatest common divisor of certain polynomials with integer coefficients as a linear combination
of the given polynomials where the coefficients also belong to ℤ[x]. We give an example of an ℤ → {0, 1} function that has a bounded real valued periodic decomposition but does not have a
bounded integer valued periodic decomposition with the same periods. It follows that the class of bounded ℤ → ℤ functions
has the decomposition property as opposed to the class of bounded ℝ → ℤ functions. If the periods are pairwise commensurable
or not prescribed, then we get more general results.

A stabilized mixed formulation for finite strain deformation for low-order tetrahedral solid elements 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A stabilized mixed finite element formulation for four-noded tetrahedral elements is introduced for robustly solving small and large deformation problems. The uniqueness of the formulation lies within the fact that it is general in that it can be applied to any type of material model without requiring specialized geometric or material parameters. To overcome the problem of volumetric locking, a mixed element formulation that utilizes linear displacement and pressure fields was implemented. The stabilization is provided by enhancing the rate of deformation tensor with a term derived using a bubble function approach. The element was implemented through a user-programmable element of the commercial finite element software ANSYS. Using the ANSYS platform, the performance of the element was evaluated by comparing the predicted results with those obtained using mixed quadratic tetrahedral elements and hexahedral elements with a B-bar formulation. Based on the quality of the results, the new element formulation shows significant potential for use in simulating complex engineering processes. 相似文献

Block-diagonalization of sparse equivariant discretization matrices is studied. Such matrices typically arise when partial
differential equations that evolve in symmetric geometries are discretized via the finite element method or via finite differences.
By considering sparse equivariant matrices as equivariant graphs, we identify a condition for when block-diagonalization via
a sparse variant of a generalized Fourier transform (GFT) becomes particularly simple and fast.
Characterizations for finite element triangulations of a symmetric domain are given, and formulas for assembling the block-diagonalized
matrix directly are presented. It is emphasized that the GFT preserves symmetric (Hermitian) properties of an equivariant
matrix.
By simulating the heat equation at the surface of a sphere discretized by an icosahedral grid, it is demonstrated that the
block-diagonalization is beneficial. The gain is significant for a direct method, and modest for an iterative method.
A comparison with a block-diagonalization approach based upon the continuous formulation is made. It is found that the sparse
GFT method is an appropriate way to discretize the resulting continuous subsystems, since the spectrum and the symmetry are
preserved.
