On General Volume-Preserving Mechanical Systems via Cohomology

We present the general form of equations that generate a volume-preserving flow on a symplectic manifold(Μ,ω) via the highest Euler-Lagrange cohomology. It is shown that for every volume-preserving fiow there are some 2-forms that play a similar role to the Hamiltonian in the Hamilton mechanics and the ordinary canonical equations with Hamiltonian H are included as a special case with a 2-form Hω/(n - 1).     

Geometric existence theory for the control-affine nonlinear optimal regulator

For infinite horizon nonlinear optimal control problems in which the control term enters linearly in the dynamics and quadratically in the cost, well-known conditions on the linearised problem guarantee existence of a smooth globally optimal feedback solution on a certain region of state space containing the equilibrium point. The method of proof is to demonstrate existence of a stable Lagrangian manifold M and then construct the solution from M in the region where M has a well-defined projection onto state space. We show that the same conditions also guarantee existence of a nonsmooth viscosity solution and globally optimal set-valued feedback on a much larger region. The method of proof is to extend the construction of a solution from M into the region where M no-longer has a well-defined projection onto state space.     

Some remarks about 1-convex manifolds on which all holomorphic line bundles are trivial

We give an abridged proof of an example already considered in [M. Col?oiu, On 1-convex manifolds with 1-dimensional exceptional set, Rev. Roumaine Math. Pures et Appl. 43 (1998) 97-104] of a 1-convex manifold X of dimension 3 such that all holomorphic line bundles on X are trivial. We also point out several mistakes of [Vo Van Tan, On the quasiprojectivity of compactifiable strongly pseudoconvex manifolds, Bull. Sci. Math. 129 (2005) 501-522] concerning this topic.
