load applied to its sides. The concept of free strains is used to reduce the three-dimensional problem to a two-dimensional

Summary The development of a compressible boundary layer over a wedge impulsively set into motion is studied in this paper. The initial motion is independent of the leading edge effect and the solutions are those of a Rayleigh-type problem. The motion tends to an ultimate steady state of Falkner-Skan type. The equations governing the transient boundary layer from the initial steady state to the terminal steady-state change their character after certain time due to the leading edge effect and thereafter solution depends on both the end conditions. Numerical solutions are obtained through the second-order accuracy upwind scheme. The effects of the Falkner-Skan parameter and the surface temperature on the transient flow and heat transfer are also studied. The interaction of a planar shock wave with a loose dusty bulk layer has been investigated both experimentally and numerically.
Experiments were conducted in a shock tube. The incident shock wave velocity and particle diameters were measured with the
use of pressure transducers and a Malvern particle sizer, respectively. The flow fields, induced by shock waves, of both gas
and granular phase were visualized by means of shadowgraphs and pulsed X-ray radiography with trace particles added. In addition,
a two-phase model for granular flow presented by Gidaspow is introduced and is extended to describe such a complex phenomenon.
Based on the kinetic theory, such a two-phase model has the advantage of being able to clarify many physical concepts, like
particulate viscosity, granular conductivity and solid pressure, and deduce the correlative constitutive equations of the
solid phase. The AUSM scheme was employed for the numerical calculation. The flow field behind the shock wave was displayed
numerically and agrees well with our corresponding experimental results.

We consider a fully discrete scheme for a quasistatic frictional contact problem between a viscoelastic body and an obstacle. The contact is bilateral, the friction is modeled with Tresca's law and the behavior of the material is described with a viscoelastic constitutive law with long memory. We state an existence and uniqueness result for the discrete solution, followed by error estimate results. Then, we present numerical simulations in the study of a two-dimensional test example. In this work, the dynamics of dephasing (without relaxation) in the presence of a chaotic oscillator is theoretically investigated. The time‐dependent density functional theory framework was used in tandem with the Lindblad master equation approach for modeling the dissipative dynamics. Using the Kohn–Sham (K–S) scheme under certain approximations, the exact model for the potentials was acquired. In addition, a space‐fractional K–S scheme was developed (using the modified Riemann–Liouville operator) for modeling the dephasing phenomenon.
