Track Extensions of Categories and Cohomology

We introduce the notion of n-fold track extensions of a category C by a natural system D and prove that such extensions represent classes in the cohomology of C with coefficients in D introduced by Baues–Wirsching. This generalizes a result of Huebschmann on the cohomology of groups.     

Differential cohomology of C (a)

Let be a finite dimensional real Lie algebra and ^* its dual. ^* is a Poisson manifold. Thus the space C^∞( ^*) of C^∞ functions on ^* has an associative and a Lie algebra structure. The problem of formal deformations of such a structure needs the determination of some cohomology groups of C^∞( ^*), considered as a module on itself for left multiplication or adjoint representation. We determine here these groups. The result is very similar to the case of C^∞(W), where W is a symplectic manifold except for the Lie algebras h_r × ^m, direct products of Heisenberg and abelian Lie algebras.     

Local cyclic homology

Local (cyclic) homology of filtered associative algebras is defined and discussed. In the commutative case, it fits naturally in the setting of (formal) de Rham cohomology; we thus obtain a satisfactory complement to a result of Feigin and Tsygan. There is a spectral sequence from discrete (cyclic) homology of the associated graded algebra to local (cyclic) homology of the original filtered algebra; we exhibit manageable conditions on its convergence.     

Hochschild and ordinary cohomology rings of small categories

Let C be a small category and k a field. There are two interesting mathematical subjects: the category algebra kC and the classifying space |C|=BC. We study the ring homomorphism HH^∗(kC)→H^∗(|C|,k) and prove it is split surjective, using the factorization category of Quillen [D. Quillen, Higher algebraic K-theory I, in: Lecture Notes in Math., vol. 341, Springer-Verlag, Berlin, 1973, pp. 85-147] and certain techniques from functor cohomology theory. This generalizes the well-known theorems for groups and posets. Based on this result, we construct a seven-dimensional category algebra whose Hochschild cohomology ring modulo nilpotents is not finitely generated, disproving a conjecture of Snashall and Solberg [N. Snashall, Ø. Solberg, Support varieties and Hochschild cohomology rings, Proc. London Math. Soc. 88 (3) (2004) 705-732].     

A p-adic Simpson correspondence

For curves over a p-adic field we construct an equivalence between the category of Higgs-bundles and that of “generalised representation” of the etale fundamental group. The definition of “generalised representations” uses p-adic Hodge theory and almost etale coverings, and it includes usual representations which form a full subcategory. The equivalence depends on the choice of an exponential function for the multiplicative group.     

A cohomological characterization of Leibniz central extensions of Lie algebras

Mainly motivated by Pirashvili's spectral sequences on a Leibniz algebra, a cohomological characterization of Leibniz central extensions of Lie algebras is given. In particular, as applications, we obtain the cohomological version of Gao's main theorem for Kac-Moody algebras and answer a question in an earlier paper by Liu and Hu (2004).

     

2-Cocycles of original deformative Schr?dinger-Virasoro algebras

Both original and twisted Schr?dinger-Virasoro algebras, and also their deformations were introduced and investigated in a series of papers by Henkel, Roger and Unterberger. In the present paper we aim at determining the 2-cocycles of original deformative Schr?dinger-Virasoro algebras.
