Curved geometries and the corresponding near-surface fields typically require a large number of linear computational elements. High-order numerical solvers have been primarily used with low-order meshes. There is a need for curved, high-order computational elements. Typical near-surface meshes consist of hexahedral and/or prismatic elements. The present work studies the employment of quadratic meshes that are relatively coarse for field simulations. Directionally quadratic high-order elements are proposed for the near-surface field regions. The quadratic meshes are compared with the conventional low-order ones in terms of accuracy and efficiency. The cases considered include closed surface volume calculations, as well as computation of gradients of several analytic fields. A special method of adaptive local quadratic meshes is proposed and evaluated. Truncation error analysis for quadratic grids yields comparison with the conventional linear hexahedral/prismatic meshes, which are subject to typical distortions such as stretching, skewness, and torsion. 相似文献

This paper studies the ranking problem in the context of the regularization theory that allows a simultaneous analysis of a wide class of ranking algorithms. Some of them were previously studied separately. For such ones, our analysis gives a better convergence rate compared to the reported in the literature. We also supplement our theoretical results with numerical illustrations and discuss the application of ranking to the problem of estimating the risk from errors in blood glucose measurements of diabetic patients. 相似文献

Computational chemistry is a powerful tool for the discovery of novel materials. In particular, it is used to simulate ionic liquids in search of electrolytes for electrochemical applications. Herein, the choice of the computational method is not trivial, as it has to be both efficient and accurate. Density functional theory methods with appropriate corrections for the systematic weaknesses can give precision close to that of the post‐Hartree–Fock coupled cluster methods with a fraction of their cost. Thence, we have evaluated the performance of a recently developed nonempirical strongly constrained and appropriately normed (SCAN) density functional on electronic structure calculations of ionic liquid ion pairs. The performance of SCAN and other popular functionals (PBE, M06‐L, B2PLYP) among with Grimme's dispersion correction and Boys–Bernardi basis set superposition error correction was compared to DLPNO‐CCSD(T)/CBS. We show that SCAN reproduces coupled‐cluster results for describing the employed dataset of 48 ion pairs. 相似文献

Here is a bounded self-adjoint operator in a real Hilbert/euclidian space, one of its eigenpairs, a trial subspace for the Rayleigh-Ritz method, and a Ritz pair. This inequality makes it possible to analyze the fine structure of the error of the Rayleigh-Ritz method, in particular, it shows that if an eigenvector is close to the trial subspace with accuracy and a Ritz vector is an approximation to another eigenvector, with a different eigenvalue. Generalizations of the estimate to the cases of eigenspaces and invariant subspaces are suggested, and estimates of approximation of eigenspaces and invariant subspaces are proved.
