In this paper we show that the maximal condensate solutions in the Abelian Chern-Simons Higgs model converge to in higher norms, where is a harmonic map.

     

Sharp global well-posedness for KdV and modified KdV on

The initial value problems for the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) and modified KdV (mKdV) equations under periodic and decaying boundary conditions are considered. These initial value problems are shown to be globally well-posed in all -based Sobolev spaces where local well-posedness is presently known, apart from the endpoint for mKdV and the endpoint for KdV. The result for KdV relies on a new method for constructing almost conserved quantities using multilinear harmonic analysis and the available local-in-time theory. Miura's transformation is used to show that global well-posedness of modified KdV is implied by global well-posedness of the standard KdV equation.

     

Hyperbolic -spheres with conical singularities, accessory parameters and Kähler metrics on

We show that the real-valued function on the moduli space of pointed rational curves, defined as the critical value of the Liouville action functional on a hyperbolic -sphere with conical singularities of arbitrary orders , generates accessory parameters of the associated Fuchsian differential equation as their common antiderivative. We introduce a family of Kähler metrics on parameterized by the set of orders , explicitly relate accessory parameters to these metrics, and prove that the functions are their Kähler potentials.

     

Some noncoercive parabolic equations with lower order terms in divergence form

This paper deals with existence and regularity results for the problem $ \cases{u_t-\mathrm{div}(a(x,t,u )\nabla u)=-\mathrm{div}(u\,E) \qquad in \Omega\times (0,T),\cr u=0 \qquad on \partial \Omega\times (0,T), \cr u (0)= u_0 \qquad in \Omega ,\cr} $ under various assumptions on E and $ u_0 $. The main difculty in studying this problem is due to the presence of the term div(uE), which makes the differential operator non coercive on the "energy space" $ L^2 (0, T; H_0^1 (\Omega)) $.AMS Subject Classification: 35K10, 35K15, 35K65.     

A Nonlinear Problem Associated to the Motion of a Membrane

Asymptotic Behavior of the Density in a Parabolic SPDE

Consider the density of the solution X(t, x) of a stochastic heat equation with small noise at a fixed t[0, T], x[0, 1]. In this paper we study the asymptotics of this density as the noise vanishes. A kind of Taylor expansion in powers of the noise parameter is obtained. The coefficients and the residue of the expansion are explicitly calculated. In order to obtain this result some type of exponential estimates of tail probabilities of the difference between the approximating process and the limit one is proved. Also a suitable iterative local integration by parts formula is developed.     

Curvature integrability of subdivision surfaces

We examine the smoothness properties of the principal curvatures of subdivision surfaces near irregular points. In particular we give an estimate of their L _p class based on the eigenstructure of the subdivision matrix. As a result we can show that the popular Loop and Catmull–Clark schemes (among many others) have square integrable principal curvatures enabling their use as shape functions in FEM treatments of the thin shell equations.     

A free boundary problem in an absorbing porous material with saturation dependent permeability

We prove a well posedness result for a free boundary problem describing the filtration of an incompressible viscous fluid in a porous medium containing water absorbing granules.?The location of the wetting front (the free boundary) is described by a Stefan like problem for a parabolic equation which is coupled with an hyperbolic equation describing the absorption kinetic of the granules.
