9-Bromomethylacridine a Novel Fluorescent Labeling Reagent of Carboxylic Group for HPLC

Abstract

9-Bromomethylacridine (9-Br · Ma) gave blue fluorescent 9-acridinylmethyl (9-AM) esters by the reaction with carboxylic acids. The reactions were performed simply by mixing the 9-Br · Ma, tetraethylammonium carbonate (TEA C) and carboxylic acids in N,N-dimethylformamide at room temperature. The 9-AM derivatives of fifteen kinds of fatty acids were separated and detected with high performance liquid chromatography. By this method, fatty acids could be determined at levels down to either pmol order by fluorometry or 10 pmol order by UV method. After saponification, those in triacylglycerols were also determined. When four kinds of fatty acids were added to a butter, their recoveries were 92–101%. The coefficient of variation of myristate as a representative was 2.5% (42.8 pmol, n=6).     

Interaction between the end groups and the main chain of conjugated polymers by time-resolved EPR and fluorescence spectroscopy

ABSTRACT

Interaction between a zinc porphyrin (ZnPor) as the end-group and poly(9,9-di-n-octylfluorene-2,7-vinylene) (PFV) as the main chain in a porphyrin end-modified fluorescent conjugated polymer, ZnPFV, was studied by time-resolved electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and fluorescence spectroscopy. While fluorescence from the PFV part of ZnPFV showed a spectral profile almost identical to that of a PFV oligomer without end-modification, the emission spectrum of the ZnPor part exhibited a much broader profile compared to that of the reference zinc porphyrin monomer. Based on the analysis of lifetimes and quantum yields, it was found that radiative rate constant of the ZnPor part was enhanced by nearly three times. The observed unusual enhancement in the radiative rate constant was rationalised in terms of a partial π-conjugation between the end group and the main chain, as a result of co-planarisation in fluid solution. On the other hand, the time-resolved EPR spectrum of ZnPFV at 100?K basically showed a similar spectral pattern to that of the reference zinc porphyrin, but with significant differences in zero-field spitting parameters and initial population ratios. The π-system of the excited triplet state is deduced to deviate from D_4h symmetry in the end zinc porphyrin groups. The obtained results show that interaction of the porphyrin end group with the main chain of the polymer significantly influences the excited singlet state properties of the porphyrin, while its triplet state properties were affected to a lesser extent.     

Connected cubic s-arc-regular Cayley graphs of finite nonabelian simple groups

A graph is said to be s-arc-regular if its full automorphism group acts regularly on the set of its s-arcs. In this paper, we investigate connected cubic s-arc-regular Cayley graphs of finite nonabelian simple groups. Two suffcient and necessary conditions for such graphs to be 1- or 2-arc-regular are given and based on the conditions, several infinite families of 1-or 2-arc-regular cubic Cayley graphs of alternating groups are constructed.     

Synthesis and Electrophilic Cyclization Reactions of Diphenyl 3-Methylpenta-1,2,4-trienyl Phosphine Oxide

Diphenyl 3-methyl-penta-1,2,4-trienyl phosphine oxide can be readily prepared via an atom-economical [2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement of the mediated alkenynyl phosphinite formed in situ by reaction of 3-methylpent-1-en-4-yn-3-ol with diphenylchlorophosphine. Electrophilic cyclization reactions of the vinylallenyl phosphine oxide prepared were investigated as it was established that the reactions proceeded with formation of various heterocyclic or highly unsaturated compounds with participation of the allenic and/or 1,3-dienic part of the vinylallenic system with neighboring group participation of phosphoryl and/or vinylic group.

Synthesis of Ionic Liquids Containing the Hydroxyl Functionality for Extracting Nonylphenol and Octylphenol in Water

A new series of task-specific ionic liquids (TSILs) containing hydroxyl groups was prepared and applied for extracting 4-nonylphenol (4-NP) and 4-tert-octylphenol (4-t-OP) in water. These new TSILs showed much greater extraction efficiencies for 4-NP and 4-t-OP than the common typical ionic liquids 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([C₄mim][PF₆]) and 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([C₆mim][PF₆]).
