Effects of poly[styrene‐b‐(ethylene‐co‐butylene)‐b‐styrene] on the charge distributions of low‐density polyethylene/polystyrene blends

The effect of the triblock copolymer poly[styrene‐b‐(ethylene‐co‐butylene)‐b‐styrene] (SEBS) on the formation of the space charge of immiscible low‐density polyethylene (LDPE)/polystyrene (PS) blends was investigated. Blends of 70/30 (wt %) LDPE/PS were prepared through melt blending in an internal mixer at a blend temperature of 220 °C. The amount of charge that accumulated in the 70% LDPE/30% PS blends decreased when the SEBS content increased up to 10 wt %. For compatibilized and uncompatibilized blends, no significant change in the degree of crystallinity of LDPE in the blends was observed, and so the effect of crystallization on the space charge distribution could be excluded. Morphological observations showed that the addition of SEBS resulted in a domain size reduction of the dispersed PS phase and better interfacial adhesion between the LDPE and PS phases. The location of SEBS at a domain interface enabled charges to migrate from one phase to the other via the domain interface and, therefore, resulted in a significant decrease in the amount of space charge for the LDPE/PS blends with SEBS. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Statistical thermodynamics evaluation of polymer–polymer miscibility

The Simha and Somcynsky (S–S) statistical thermodynamics theory was used to compute the solubility parameters as a function of temperature and pressure [δ = δ(T, P)], for a series of polymer melts. The characteristic scaling parameters required for this task, P*, T*, and V*, were extracted from the pressure–temperature–volume (PVT) data. To determine the potential polymer–polymer miscibility, the dependence of δ versus T (at ambient pressure) was computed for 17 polymers. Close proximity of the δ versus T curves for four miscible polymer pairs: PPE/PS, PS/PVME, and PC/PMMA signaled the usefulness of this approach. It is noteworthy, that the tabulated solubility parameters (derived from the solution data under ambient conditions) propounded the immiscibility of the PVC/PVAc pair. The computed values of δ also suggested miscibility for polymer pairs of unknown miscibility, namely PPE/PVC, PPE/PVAc, and PET/PSF. In recognizing the limitations of the solubility parameter approach (the omission of several thermodynamic contributions), these preliminary results are auspicious because they indicate a new route for estimating the miscibility of any polymeric material at a given temperature and pressure. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Preparation and characterization of finely dispersed drugs. 5. Ethyl 3,5-di(acetylamino)-2,4,6-triiodobenzoate

Controlled precipitation of the diagnostic imaging agent ethyl 3,5-di(acetylamino)-2,4,6-triiodobenzoate has been used to produce fine particles of various sizes, morphologies, and degrees of crystallinity, which depended on experimental conditions. In addition, two distinct polymorphic forms of the drug have been fully characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies, and evidence for a third polymorph was also observed. Some of the so prepared dry particles were coated with a thin layer of silica.     

X波段六腔渡越管振荡器的高频特性研究

 从麦克斯韦方程出发，采用时域有限差分法（FDTD）和离散傅里叶变换（DFFT）相结合的方法，通过数值计算得出了六腔开放式谐振腔中前四个谐振频率和场分布，计算出的谐振频率与实验测量结果基本相同。比较了开放腔和封闭腔谐振频率，验证了TEM波吸收边界条件，并在实际编程计算中得以应用。计算结果为六腔渡越管振荡器的机理研究提供了依据。     

Polynomial Quantization on Rank One Para-Hermitian Symmetric Spaces

We construct the polynomial quantization on the space G/H where G=SL(n,R),H=GL(n–1,R). It is a variant of quantization in the spirit of Berezin. In our case covariant and contravariant symbols are polynomials on G/H. We introduce a multiplication of covariant symbols, establish the correspondence principle, study transformations of symbols (the Berezin transform) and of operators. We write a full asymptotic decomposition of the Berezin transform.     

Saturated Commutative Spaces of Heisenberg Type

In this paper, we give a partial classification of commutative spaces of Heisenberg type. Several classification results were known previously. In order to avoid complicated technical details, we restrict ourselves to saturated commutative spaces. Our results are presented in Table II.     

Timelike Minimal Surfaces via Loop Groups

This work consists of two parts. In Part I, we shall give a systematic study of Lorentz conformal structure from structural viewpoints. We study manifolds with split-complex structure. We apply general results on split-complex structure for the study of Lorentz surfaces.In Part II, we study the conformal realization of Lorentz surfaces in the Minkowski 3-space via conformal minimal immersions. We apply loop group theoretic Weierstrass-type representation of timelike constant mean curvature for timelike minimal surfaces. Classical integral representation formula for timelike minimal surfaces will be recovered from loop group theoretic viewpoint.     

Gauss Algebras

A special class of associative algebras is introduced and studied. A criteria of semisimplicity for suitable category of modules is obtained.     

Invariant ideals of twisted crossed products

We will prove a result concerning the inclusion of non-trivial invariant ideals inside non-trivial ideals of a twisted crossed product. We will also give results concerning the primeness and simplicity of crossed products of twisted actions of locally compact groups on -algebras. Symmetric presentations of Abelian groups

We characterise the abelianisation of a group that has a presentation for which the set of relations is invariant under the full symmetric group acting on the set of generators. This improves a result of Emerson.
