We study the surface behavior of a semi-infinite smectogenic sample bounded by a solid wall, in the presence of an external electric field. Our analysis is performed in the framework of a Landau-de Gennes theory. For the sake of simplicity, we consider only the case in which, in the absence of field and surfaces, a direct isotropic to smectic-A transition occurs, while in the presence of the electric field a nonspontaneous nematic phase appears. Two new surface phases are identified, namely a parasmectic and a surface-induced smectic phase. The solvent extraction of cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) using 2,4-pent-dione (Hacac) and 4-phenyl-2, 4-but-dione (Hbzac) is carried out by varying the reagent concentration and pH of the aqueous phase. Each of these metals is quantitatively separated (≈ 98%) from their binary mixtures with monovalent (Ag), divalent (Mn, Zn, Cd, Hg, Mg, Sn, Pb) and trivalent (Cr, Fe) metals. The extraction constants are calculated from the metal distribution data using linear regression analysis. The extracted species is MA2 in each case. A most significant result is separation of copper(II) from iron(III) which otherwise interferes when extracted from the acidic medium.  相似文献

The theory of p-regularity is applied to optimization problems and to singular ordinary differential equations (ODE). The special variant of the method of the modified Lagrangian function proposed by Yu.G. Evtushenko for constrained optimization problems with inequality constraints is justified on the basis of the 2-factor transformation. An implicit function theorem is given for the singular case. This theorem is used to show the existence of solutions to a boundary value problem for a nonlinear differential equation in the resonance case. New numerical methods are proposed including the p-factor method for solving ODEs with a small parameter.  相似文献

A new and rather trivial model is suggested with mechanism that implies simultaneous violation of the zeroth and the second laws of thermodynamics. Mathematically rigorous quantum theory reduces to a trivial application of the Golden rule formula. It yields exciton on-energy-shell diffusion caused by bath-nonassisted excitation hopping between tails of different exciton site levels ε1 < ε2 broadened by bath-assisted finite life-time effects. The elastic character of the hopping implies 1 ↔ 2-symmetric transfer rate W. Thus the net diffusion exciton flow W(P 1 - P 2) and also, as argued, the net energy flow are possible due to different near-to-equilibrium exciton populations P 1 > P 2. As the sites are provided with two different baths, the population imbalance and the flows survive even for slightly different local bath temperatures T 1 < T 2 < T 1ε21. Thus spontaneous exciton and also energy flows against temperature step become possible, in contradiction with the Clausius form of the second law. We investigate traces of functions, belonging to a class of functions with dominating mixed smoothness in ℝ3, with respect to planes in oblique position. In comparison with the classical theory for isotropic spaces a few new phenomenona occur. We shall present two different approaches. One is based on the use of the Fourier transform and restricted to p = 2. The other one is applicable in the general case of Besov-Lizorkin-Triebel spaces and based on atomic decompositions.  相似文献

An in‐line monitoring device using a quartz crystal resonator for thin film polymerization was proposed, and its performance has been evaluated by implementing in the UV polymerization of 2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate with a photoinitiator of 1‐chloroanthraquinone. Because the variation of resonant resistance of the resonator is proportional to the square root of viscosity change that is closely related to the polymerization degree, the resistance can be used as a measure of the polymerization degree. The resistance measurements were compared with the outcome of instrumental analyses of polymerization degree using an FTIR spectrometer and a gel permeation chromatograph. The experimental results showed that the resistance measurements were consistent with the experimental outcome of the instrumental analyses, and this indicates the effectiveness of the proposed device. Owing to the simplicity and availability of the resonator system, its wide utilization in the monitoring of a variety of film polymerization processes, including photoresistor application, is expected. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The factors affecting pattern‐forming properties in reaction development patterning were examined with polyarylates with various bisphenol moieties. The developability of the photosensitive polyarylates was dependent on the properties of the subtituent (R) in the bisphenol moieties. The development time decreased in the following order: R?C(CH3)2 > fluorenyl unit ? phenolphthalein unit > C(CF3)2 > SO2. This order agreed with that of the reactivity between the polyarylates and ethanolamine, and these orders can be explained by pKa of the bisphenol used to prepare the polyarylates. The development with NH2? R′? OH resulted in successful positive‐tone pattern formation. However, pattern formation with the developers containing NH2? R′? We study the initial value problem of the Helmholtz equation with spatially variable wave number. We show that it can be stabilized by suppressing the evanescent waves. The stabilized Helmholtz equation can be solved numerically by a marching scheme combined with FFT. The resulting algorithm has complexity n^2 log n on a n x n grid. We demonstrate the efficacy of the method by numerical examples with caustics. For the Maxwell equation the same treatment is possible after reducing it to a second order system. We show how the method can be used for inverse problems arising in acoustic tomography and microwave imaging.  相似文献
