An algorithm for the solution of a semismooth system of equations with box constraints is described. The method is an affine-scaling
trust-region method. All iterates generated by this method are strictly feasible. In this way, possible domain violations
outside or on the boundary of the box are avoided. The method is shown to have strong global and local convergence properties
under suitable assumptions, in particular, when the method is used with a special scaling matrix. Numerical results are presented

Large-scale nonlinear oscillations of an electrically conducting ideal fluid of varying depth are considered with the magnetic,
Archimedean, and Coriolis forces taken into account. The main equations are derived from an analysis of the scales of quasi-geostrophic
motions. Under the assumptions that the Rossby numbers (a measure of the ratio of the local and advective accelerations to
the Coriolis acceleration) are of the same order, the problem is reduced to a system of three nonlinear equations for hydromagnetic
pressure and two functions describing the magnetic field. For an infinitely long horizontal layer of an electrically conducting
rotating fluid, the exact solution of the corresponding nonlinear equations and the dispersion relation are obtained under
the assumption of an approximately constant slope of the upper boundary surface of the layer at a distance of the order of
the wavelength.

In this paper, the Clarkson–Kruskal direct approach is employed to investigate the exact solutions of the2-dimensional rotational Euler equations for the incompressible fluid. The application of the method leads to a system of completely solvable ordinary differential equations. Several special cases are discussed and novel nonlinear exact solutions with respect to variables x and y are obtained. It is of interest to notice that the pressure p is obtained by the second kind of curvilinear integral and the coefficients of the nonlinear solutions are solitary wave type functions like tanh(kt/2)and sech(kt/2) due to the rotational parameter k = 0. Such phenomenon never appear in the classical Euler equations wherein the Coriolis force arising from the gravity and Earth's rotation is ignored. Multi-symplectic variational integrators for nonlinear Schrdinger equations with variable coefficients 下载免费PDF全文
In this paper, we propose a variational integrator for nonlinear Schrdinger equations with variable coefficients. It is shown that our variational integrator is naturally multi-symplectic. The discrete multi-symplectic structure of the integrator is presented by a multi-symplectic form formula that can be derived from the discrete Lagrangian boundary function. As two examples of nonlinear Schrdinger equations with variable coefficients, cubic nonlinear Schrdinger equations and Gross–Pitaevskii equations are extensively studied by the proposed integrator. Our numerical simulations demonstrate that the integrator is capable of preserving the mass, momentum, and energy conservation during time evolutions. Convergence tests are presented to verify that our integrator has second-order accuracy both in time and space. 相似文献

We present artificial boundary conditions for the numerical simulation of compressible flows using high-order accurate discretizations with the discontinuous Galerkin (DG) finite element method. The construction of the proposed boundary conditions is based on characteristic analysis and applied for boundaries with arbitrary shape and orientation. Numerical experiments demonstrate that the proposed boundary treatment enables to convect out of the computational domain complex flow features with little distortion. In addition, it is shown that small-amplitude acoustic disturbances could be convected out of the computational domain, with no significant deterioration of the overall accuracy of the method. Furthermore, it was found that application of the proposed boundary treatment for viscous flow over a cylinder yields superior performance compared to simple extrapolation methods. 相似文献

The renormalization group method proposed by 't Hooft is developed for the study of scaling properties of some models of nonequilibrium phenomena. For one of two models studied in detail, the Langevin equation for the random variables contains a bilinear streaming velocity and the stationary probability distribution is Gaussian. The time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau model is chosen as a second example because it illustrates the advantage of the 't Hooft method of not having to specify a particular renormalization point. The present paper deals with the numerical solution of the coupled Schrodinger-KdV equations using the elementfree Galerkin (EFG) method which is based on the moving least-square approximation. Instead of traditional mesh oriented methods such as the finite difference method (FDM) and the finite element method (FEM), this method needs only scattered nodes in the domain. For this scheme, a variational method is used to obtain discrete equations and the essential boundary conditions are enforced by the penalty method. In numerical experiments, the results are presented and compared with the findings of the finite element method, the radial basis functions method, and an analytical solution to confirm the good accuracy of the presented scheme. 相似文献
