A nuclear magnetic resonance study of clustering in ferromagnetic NiCu alloys

The influence of cold working and annealing on the short range order in nickel copper alloys is studied by NMR of the Cu nuclei. For concentrations aove 5% Cu in Ni the existence of Cu rich clusters after annealing is demonstrated and an effective randomizing method is shown by means of the Cu spectra.     

Radiation spectrum of rotating G(o)del black hole and correction entropy

We study the Hawking radiation of the scalar field in the rotating Godel black hole in minimal five-dimensional supergravity. We not only derive radiation spectra that satisfy the unitary principle but also obtain the correction term of Bekenstein-Hawking entropy. The conclusion will help us learn more about the rotating Godel black hole in minimal five-dimensional supergravity. This provides a greater understanding of the thermal radiation of black holes.     

New Theory of Hybrid-Upwind Technique and Discrete Del Operator for Finite-Element Method

In this paper, we present a new hybrid-streamline-upwind finite-element method, which is based on the finite analytic method developed in the field of the finite difference method. In order to obtain an optimal shape function, we introduce an adjoint differential operator to the differential operator for a steady advection-diffusion equation. The shape functions which satisfy these differential operators are mutually dual. One of them interpolates accurately the functions appearing in convection-dominated flows, the other becomes a hybrid-streamline-upwind weighting function. Furthermore, we define a discrete del operator for the reduction of memory storage in the computer. As a result, we achieve simplicity of formulation and high-speed calculation of the finite-element method.     

Notes on minimal compactifications of the affine plane

In this paper, we consider the minimal compactifications X of the complex affine plane with at most log canonical singular points. We classify the surfaces X in the case X has at least one non-log terminal singular point.      

Global bifurcations and chaos in a Van der Pol-Duffing-Mathieu system with three-well potential oscillator

Semi-analytical and semi-numerical method is used to investigate the global bifurcations and chaos in the nonlinear system of a Van der Pol-Duffing-Mathieu oscillator. Semi-analytical and semi-numerical method means that the autonomous system, called Van der Pol-Duffing system, is analytically studied to draw all global bifurcations diagrams in parameter space. These diagrams are called basic bifurcation diagrams. Then fixing parameter in every space and taking parametrically excited amplitude as a bifurcation parameter, we can observe the evolution from a basic bifurcation diagram to chaotic pattern by numerical methods. n ‐fold filters in BL‐algebras

In this paper we introduce n ‐fold (positive) implicative basis logic and the related algebras called n ‐fold (positive) implicative BL‐algebras. Also we define n ‐fold (positive) implicative filters and we prove some relations between these filters and construct quotient algebras via these filters. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Geometry of moduli space of sheaves on del Pezzo surfaces via Maruyama transform

In this paper, we prove that the moduli space of stable pairs (or sheaves) on del Pezzo surface S is isomorphic to the Maruyama type transformation of a projective bundle of a quiver representation space.     

The “Circolo Matematico di Palermo” and the First World War: The crisis of scientific internationalism: a view through the unedited correspondence of De Franchis with Edmund Landau and other mathematicians

In this work the situation of the “Circolo Matematico di Palermo” between 1914 and 1928 is analyzed. It will be observed that during this time the Circolo was among the few European scientific associations with German as well as French associates. During the 1930s, the nationalist politics of Fascism and above all the racial laws dealt a deadly blow to the Circolo as an international scientific association. We will use the rich correspondence in the Circolo's archives to shed some light on this. In particular, the correspondence between M. De Franchis and E. Landau and other recently found documents will figure prominently.
