The paper starts from classroom situations about the study of a functional relationship with help of technological tools as a ‘transposition’ of experimental approaches from research mathematical practices. It considers the limitation of this transposition in existing curricula and practices based on the use of non-symbolic software like dynamic geometry and spreadsheets. The paper focuses then on the potentialities of classroom use of computer algebra packages that could help to go beyond this shortcoming. It looks at a contradiction: while symbolic calculation is a basic tool for mathematicians, curricula and teachers are very cautious regarding their use by students. We consider best -term approximation in with wave packets generated by a single refinable function. The main examples of wave packets are orthonormal wavelets, or more generally wavelet frames based on a multiresolution analysis (so-called framelets). The approximation classes associated with best -term approximation in for a large class of wave packets are completely characterized in terms of Besov spaces.
As an application of the main result, we show that for -term approximation in with elements from an oversampled version of a framelet system with compactly supported generators, the associated approximation classes turn out to be (essentially) Besov spaces.

Some Gauss-type Quadrature rules over [0, 1], which involve values and/or the derivative of the integrand at 0 and/or 1, are investigated. Our work is based on the orthogonal polynomials with respect to linear weight function ω(t): = 1 ? t over [0, 1]. These polynomials are also linked with a class of recently developed “identity-type functions”. Along the lines of Golub's work, the nodes and weights of the quadrature rules are computed from Jacobi-type matrices with simple rational entries. Computational procedures for the derived rules are tested on different integrands. The calculation of the determinant for the second order covariant derivative operator is analyzed in the space R4 and for Yang-Mills instanton field configurations. The problems inherent to the ultraviolet ζ-function renormalization method and infrared divergencies of this operator are reviewed. A method for estimating the asymptotic coefficients of its determinant has been discussed and the failure of the general conformal invariance induced by any regularization technique has also been considered. We apply a boundary element dual reciprocity method (DRBEM) to the numerical solution of the forward–backward heat equation in a two-dimensional case. The method is employed for the spatial variable via the fundamental solution of the Laplace equation and the Crank–Nicolson finite difference scheme is utilized to treat the time variable. The physical domain is divided into two non-overlapping subdomains resulting in two standard forward and backward parabolic equations. The subproblems are then treated by the underlying method assuming a virtual boundary in the interface and starting with an initial approximate solution on this boundary followed by updating the solution by an iterative procedure. In addition, we show that the time discrete scheme is unconditionally stable and convergent using the energy method. Furthermore, some computational aspects will be suggested to efficiently deal with the formulation of the proposed method. Finally, two forward–backward problems, for which the exact solution is available, will be numerically solved for two different domains to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed approach. 相似文献
