A simple “chimney” method was used to eliminate the voids in an arrangement of quantum dots sized 2 nm on a solid substrate, which resulted in a large well ordered superlattice of area in the order more than 1 μm2. Based on the principle of speeding up the interparticle interaction of nanoparticles to overcome the particle-substrate one, a lateral centripetal force originated from a glass tube acting as a chimney in a simple evaporation device is imposed. This method allows the packing process to be controlled in a mechanical force field, that is, with the same nanogold dispersion different patterns on a substrate—from separate dots to an ordered compact monolayer or even a multilayer structure—could be easily obtained. 相似文献

A combinatorial constraint satisfaction problem aims at expressing in unified terms a wide spectrum of problems in various
branches of mathematics, computer science, and AI. The generalized satisfiability problem is NP-complete, but many of its
restricted versions can be solved in a polynomial time. It is known that the computational complexity of a restricted constraint
satisfaction problem depends only on a set of polymorphisms of relations which are admitted to be used in the problem. For
the case where a set of such relations is invariant under some Mal’tsev operation, we show that the corresponding constraint
satisfaction problem can be solved in a polynomial time.

We have carried out some photon interaction measurements using 59.54 keV γ-rays from a 241Am source. These include γ attenuation studies as well as photoelectric absorption studies in various samples. The attenuation
studies have been made using leaf and wood samples, samples like sand, sugar etc., which contain particles of varying sizes
as well as pellets and aqueous solutions of rare earth compounds. In the case of the leaf and wood samples, we have used the
γ-ray attenuation technique for the determination of the water content in fresh and dried samples. The variation of the attenuation
coefficient with particle size has been investigated for sand and sugar samples. The attenuation studies as well as the photoelectric
studies in the case of rare earth elements have been carried out on samples containing such elements whose K-absorption edge
energies lie below and close to the γ-energy used. Suitable compounds of the rare earth elements have been chosen as mixture
absorbers in these investigations. A narrow beam good geometry set-up was used for the attenuation measurements. A well-shielded
scattering geometry was used for the photoelectric measurements. The mixture rule was invoked to extract the values of the
mass attenuation coefficients for the elements from those of the corresponding compounds. The results are consistent with
theoretical values derived from the XCOM package. 相似文献

In this paper, we consider two algorithms for nonlinear equality and inequality constrained optimization. Both algorithms utilize stepsize strategies based on differentiable penalty functions and quadratic programming subproblems. The essential difference between the algorithms is in the stepsize strategies used. The objective function in the quadratic subproblem includes a linear term that is dependent on the penalty functions. The quadratic objective function utilizes an approximate Hessian of the Lagrangian augmented by the penalty functions. In this approximation, it is possible to ignore the second-derivative terms arising from the constraints in the penalty functions.The penalty parameter is determined using a strategy, slightly different for each algorithm, that ensures boundedness as well as a descent property. In particular, the boundedness follows as the strategy is always satisfied for finite values of the parameter.These properties are utilized to establish global convergence and the condition under which unit stepsizes are achieved. There is also a compatibility between the quadratic objective function and the stepsize strategy to ensure the consistency of the properties for unit steps and subsequent convergence rates.This research was funded by SERC and ESRC research contracts.
