In this paper, we give a direct proof of Rockafellar's result that the subdifferential of a proper convex lower-semicontinuous function on a Banach space is maximal monotone. Our proof is simpler than those that have appeared to date. In fact, we show that Rockafellar's result can be embedded in a more general situation in which we can quantify the degree of failure of monotonicity in terms of a quotient like the one that appears in the definition of Fréchet differentiability. Our analysis depends on the concepts of the least slope of a convex function, which is related to the steepest descent of optimization theory.The author would like to express his thanks to R. R. In many interesting semi-infinite programming problems, all the constraints are linear inequalities whose coefficients are analytical functions of a one-dimensional parameter. This paper shows that significant geometrical information on the feasible set of these problems can be obtained directly from the given coefficient functions. One of these geometrical properties gives rise to a general purification scheme for linear semi-infinite programs equipped with so-called analytical constraint systems. It is also shown that the solution sets of such kind of consistent systems form a transition class between polyhedral convex sets and closed convex sets in the Euclidean space of the unknowns. 相似文献

In the solution methods of the symmetric cone complementarity problem (SCCP), the squared norm of a complementarity function
serves naturally as a merit function for the problem itself or the equivalent system of equations reformulation. In this paper,
we study the growth behavior of two classes of such merit functions, which are induced by the smooth EP complementarity functions
and the smooth implicit Lagrangian complementarity function, respectively. We show that, for the linear symmetric cone complementarity
problem (SCLCP), both the EP merit functions and the implicit Lagrangian merit function are coercive if the underlying linear
transformation has the P-property; for the general SCCP, the EP merit functions are coercive only if the underlying mapping has the uniform Jordan
P-property, whereas the coerciveness of the implicit Lagrangian merit function requires an additional condition for the mapping,
for example, the Lipschitz continuity or the assumption as in (45).

We begin with the following question: given a closed disc and a complex-valued function , is the uniform algebra on generated by z and F equal to ? When F∈C1(D), this question is complicated by the presence of points in the surface that have complex tangents. Such points are called CR singularities. Let p∈S be a CR singularity at which the order of contact of the tangent plane with S is greater than 2; i.e. a degenerate CR singularity. We provide sufficient conditions for S to be locally polynomially convex at the degenerate singularity p. This is useful because it is essential to know whether S is locally polynomially convex at a CR singularity in order to answer the initial question. To this end, we also present a general theorem on the uniform algebra generated by z and F, which we use in our investigations. problems. Under the constraint nondegeneracy condition and the strong second order sufficient condition, we demonstrate that
the sequence of iterate points generated by the augmented Lagrangian method locally converges to a local minimizer at a linear
rate, whose ratio constant is proportional to 1/τ with penalty parameter τ not less than a threshold

This paper presents results of research related to multicriteria decision making under information uncertainty. The Bellman–Zadeh approach to decision making in a fuzzy environment is utilized for analyzing multicriteria optimization models (X,M models) under deterministic information. Its application conforms to the principle of guaranteed result and provides constructive lines in obtaining harmonious solutions on the basis of analyzing associated maxmin problems. This circumstance permits one to generalize the classic approach to considering the uncertainty of quantitative information (based on constructing and analyzing payoff matrices reflecting effects which can be obtained for different combinations of solution alternatives and the so-called states of nature) in monocriteria decision making to multicriteria problems. Considering that the uncertainty of information can produce considerable decision uncertainty regions, the resolving capacity of this generalization does not always permit one to obtain unique solutions. Taking this into account, a proposed general scheme of multicriteria decision making under information uncertainty also includes the construction and analysis of the so-called X,R models (which contain fuzzy preference relations as criteria of optimality) as a means for the subsequent contraction of the decision uncertainty regions.
