On Selfsimilar Jordan Curves on the Plane

We study the attractors of a finite system of planar contraction similarities S _j (j=1,...,n) satisfying the coupling condition: for a set {x ₀,...,x _n} of points and a binary vector (s ₁,...,s _n ), called the signature, the mapping S _j takes the pair {x ₀,x _n} either into the pair {x _j-1,x _j } (if s _j =0) or into the pair {x _j , x _j-1} (if s _j =1). We describe the situations in which the Jordan property of such attractor implies that the attractor has bounded turning, i.e., is a quasiconformal image of an interval of the real axis.     

On a Construction of Fast Direct Solvers

Fast direct solvers for the Poisson equation with homogeneous Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions on special triangles and tetrahedra are constructed. The domain given is extended by symmetrization or skew symmetrization onto a rectangle or a rectangular parallelepiped and a fast direct solver is used there. All extendable domains are found. Eigenproblems are also considered.     

On the Global Stability of Solutions of Moment Systems in Nonequilibrium Thermodynamics

In this paper, we study the linearization of the Cauchy problem and the mixed problem for the system of Grad--Hermite moments in nonequilibrium thermodynamics in the neighborhood of the equilibrium state. Stability conditions for solutions of the Cauchy problem are proved as a generalization of the classical Hermite--Biller theorem on stable polynomials. For the mixed problem, we prove an analog of the Vishik--Lyusternik theorem on small singular perturbations of general elliptic problems. The last observation allows us to introduce the Shapiro--Lopatinskii condition, which implies the well-posedness of the mixed problem.     

On Solvability of a Boundary Value Problem for Singular Integral Equations

This paper deals with the solvability of boundary value problems for singular integral equations of the form (i)-(ii).By an algebraic method we reduce the problem (i)-(ii) to a system of linear algebraic equations which gives all solutions in a closed form.AMS Subject Classification: 47G05, 45GO5, 45E05     

Galerkin Approximations for the Linear Parabolic Equation with the Third Boundary Condition

We solve a linear parabolic equation in ^d , d 1, with the third nonhomogeneous boundary condition using the finite element method for discretization in space, and the -method for discretization in time. The convergence of both, the semidiscrete approximations and the fully discretized ones, is analysed. The proofs are based on a generalization of the idea of the elliptic projection. The rate of convergence is derived also for variable time step-sizes.     

Equilibrium Problems with Applications to Eigenvalue Problems

In this paper, we consider equilibrium problems and introduce the concept of (S)₊ condition for bifunctions. Existence results for equilibrium problems with the (S)₊ condition are derived. As special cases, we obtain several existence results for the generalized nonlinear variational inequality studied by Ding and Tarafdar (Ref. 1) and the generalized variational inequality studied by Cubiotti and Yao (Ref. 2). Finally, applications to a class of eigenvalue problems are given.

本文用凸函数的方法研究了概率测度的矩母函数和由C.J.Stone提出的拟对称性,并刻画了Martin边界的法向量.拟对称性在随机游动的比例极限定理中是一个重要的概念.这些结果可应用于Levy过程的研究.     

A NEW FORMULA WITHOUT BOUNDARY INTEGRALS ON A STEIN MANIFOLD

A new Koppelman-Leray-Norguet formula of (p-1,q) differential forms for a strictly pseudoconvex polyhedron with not necessarily smooth boundary on a Stein manifold is obtained, and an integral representation for the solution of (?)-equation on this domain which does not involve integrals on boundary is given, so one can avoid complex estimates of boundary integrals.     

SOME NEW RESULTS FOR NONLINEAR BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEMS OF MIXED TYPE INTEGRODIFFERENTIAL EQUATION

In this paper we give the existence and uniqueness of solutions for boundary value problems of the form u" = f(t, u,u', T1u,T2u), g(u(0),u(1)) = 0, h(w(0), u(1),u'(0), u'(1)) = 0 by means of the upper and lower solution method.     

TWO POSITIVE SOLUTIONS FOR A CLASS OF SINGULAR BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEMS

An existence theorem of two positive solutions of the singular BVP1/(p(t))(p(t)y′(t))′+λα(t)f(y(t))=0,t∈(0,1),αy(0)-βp(t)y′(t)=0=γy(1)+δp(t)y′(t)was established by using topological degree theory.
