Synthesis of β-ketoenamine donors having O, N, Se/Te donor functionalities and their reaction chemistry with Pd(II) and Pt(II) metal ions

Monoanionic tridentate ligands LH_a and LH_b containing ONSe and ONTe donor sequences and their Pd²⁺ and Pt²⁺ derivatives were synthesized and characterized. The formation of a five- and a six-membered ring around the central metal atom and associative phenomena in solutions provide extra stability to the metal complexes.     

Oxidation kinetics of timahdit and tarfaya moroccan oil shales

Organic matter evolution and kinetics of combustion of Tarfaya and Timahdit oil shales have been examined by thermogravimetry (TG) and by differential thermal analysis (DTA). An agreement is observed between both techniques where it was found that combustion of organic matter occurs in two steps. Kissinger's method applied on experimental results gives an activation energy of the same magnitude for the first step of both oil shales (103 kJ mol^–1) whereas the second is 148 kJ mol^–1 for Timahdit and 118 kJ mol^–1 for Tarfaya.The changes in specific surface area during thermal combustion of Timahdit and Tarfaya oil shales have been studied by thermogravimetric gas sorption balance and correlated with experimental results obtained on TG/DTA in air. For Timahdit oil shale oxidation products, specific surface areas calculated from nitrogen adsorption data shows a slight increase during the temperature domain of 280 to 430°C and after this temperature, they increase sharply. However, data obtained with Tarfaya oil shales shows a significant increase at the temperature of maximum oxidation of the first stage of combustion of organic matter.This revised version was published online in November 2005 with corrections to the Cover Date.     

Composting of urban solid residues (USR) by different dispositions

The thermal behavior and non-isothermal kinetics of thermal decomposition of three different kinds of composting of the USR like: stack with drilled PVC tubes (ST), revolved stack (SR) and stack with material of structure (SM), from the usine of composing of Araraquara city, Săo Paulo state, Brazil, within a period of 132 days of composting were studied. Results from TG, DTG and DSC curves obtained on inert atmosphere indicated that the cellulosic fraction present, despite the slow degradation during the composting process, is thermally less stable than other substances originated from that process. Due to that behavior, the cellulosic fraction decomposition could be kinetically evaluated through non-isothermal methods of analysis. The values obtained were: average activation energy, Ea=248, 257 and 259 kJ mol^-1 and pre- exponential factor, logA=21.4, 22.5, 22.7 min^-1, to the ST, SR and SM, respectively. From Ea and logA values and DSC curves, Málek procedure could be applied, suggesting that the SB (Šesták-Berggren) kinetic model is the appropriated one to the first thermal decomposition step. Two New Steroidal Saponins from Tacca plantaginea

Two new C27 steroidal glycosides, named taccaoside A(1) and B(2), were isolated from the traditional Chinese herb Tacca plantaginea. The spectroscopic and chemical evidences revealed their structures to be 26-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(25R)-3β,26-dihydroxy furost-5,20-diene-3-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→2)]-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→3)]-β-D-glucopyranoside(1) and 26-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(25R)-3β,26-dihydroxy furost-5,20-diene-3-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)]-[β-D-glucopyranosyl(1→3)-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→3)]-β-D-glucopyranoside(2),respectively.     

Green Chemistry and Modern Technology

The basic principles, approaches, and early achievements of green chemistry are considered. The definition of green chemistry as a branch of chemistry that studies the laws of passing of chemical reactions and the properties of substances participating in such reactions, with the aim of acquiring basic knowledge that provides a basis for designing chemical technologies that eliminate (sharply curtail) the use and production of materials that pose a risk to the environment.     

Zur Stereochemie der Vitamin D3-Epoxide Röntgenstrukturanalyse einer 5,6-7,8-Diepoxidverbindung

Epoxidation of vitamin D₃ with benzonitrile ¦H₂O₂¦ KHCO₃ (Payne's reagent) yields exclusively the 5,6-mono-oxirane2. Further epoxidation with the same reagent gives the 5,6-7,8-bisepoxide3 a. Its stereochemistry and therefore the stereochemistry of2 was established by single crystal X-ray analysis of thep-Brbenzoate3b. Thereby for the first time a directive effect of a homoallylic hydroxyl group during thePayne-epoxidation was established.

The crystal structure of CuVo3(II), a high-pressure ilmenite phase

The crystal structure of a second high-pressure copper vanadate phase, CuVO₃(II), has been determined and refined by full-matrix least-squares procedures using automatic diffractometer data to a residual R = 0.042 (R_w = 0.051). The space group is rhombohedral, $\text{R}\text{3}$, with hexagonal unit cell a = 4.966(2) and c = 14.084(5) Å [a_R = 5.501(2) Å and α = 53.66(3)°]. The structure is the fully ordered ilmenite-type and, on the basis of published magnetic data and the interatomic distances, the valence distribution Cu⁺V⁵⁺O₃ is proposed. This represents a unique example of Cu⁺ in an octahedral environment.     

仪器分析测试技术信息化教学探索与实践

针对高职学生的特点，以仪器分析测试技术课程实训教学为例，按照课前布置学习任务，学生翻转课堂学习，"教、学、做"一体化课堂教学，课后复习巩固的形式，开展信息化教学的探索与实践，并对信息化教学的效果和存在的问题进行了分析。通过信息化教学改革，仪器分析测试技术课程突破了传统教学时空的限制，激发了学生学习的兴趣，构建了"学生主体、教师主导"的教学新模式，提高了课堂教学效果，对推动高职课堂信息化教学的改革具有一定的借鉴意义。     

Concentration profiles and breakthrough curves in non-linear chromatography

The treatment of the non-linear isotherm in chromatography by one of the authors [1] is extended to other cases of practical interest. The original paper dealt with the case of an initially thin zone resulting in a Poisson distribution the asymmetry of which is a function of the plate number and the non-linearity constant. The present work shows that the same relations apply to initially thick zones and to the cases of washing and deposition leading to simple relations for breakthrough curves. For significantly non-linear isotherms other quasi-Gaussian distributions can give a better fit.
