A Hashin-Shtrikman-Willis variational principle is employed to derive two exact micromechanics-based nonlocal constitutive equations relating ensemble averages of stress and strain for two-phase, and also many types of multi-phase, random linear elastic composite materials. By exact is meant that the constitutive equations employ the complete spatially-varying ensemble-average strain field, not gradient approximations to it as were employed in the previous, related work of Drugan and Willis (J. Mech. Phys. Solids 44 (1996) 497) and Drugan (J. Mech. Phys. Solids 48 (2000) 1359) (and in other, more phenomenological works). Thus, the nonlocal constitutive equations obtained here are valid for arbitrary ensemble-average strain fields, not restricted to slowly-varying ones as is the case for gradient-approximate nonlocal constitutive equations. One approach presented shows how to solve the integral equations arising from the variational principle directly and exactly, for a special, physically reasonable choice of the homogeneous comparison material. The resulting nonlocal constitutive equation is applicable to composites of arbitrary anisotropy, and arbitrary phase contrast and volume fraction. One exact nonlocal constitutive equation derived using this approach is valid for two-phase composites having any statistically uniform distribution of phases, accounting for up through two-point statistics and arbitrary phase shape. It is also shown that the same approach can be used to derive exact nonlocal constitutive equations for a large class of composites comprised of more than two phases, still permitting arbitrary elastic anisotropy. The second approach presented employs three-dimensional Fourier transforms, resulting in a nonlocal constitutive equation valid for arbitrary choices of the comparison modulus for isotropic composites. This approach is based on use of the general representation of an isotropic fourth-rank tensor function of a vector variable, and its inverse. The exact nonlocal constitutive equations derived from these two approaches are applied to some example cases, directly rationalizing some recently-obtained numerical simulation results and assessing the accuracy of previous results based on gradient-approximate nonlocal constitutive equations.  相似文献

The theory of fractional calculus goes back to the beginning of the theory of differential calculus, but its application received attention only recently. In the area of automatic control some work was developed, but the proposed algorithms are still in a research stage. This paper discusses a novel method, with two degrees of freedom, for the design of fractional discrete-time derivatives. The performance of several approximations of fractional derivatives is investigated in the perspective of nonlinear system control.  相似文献

Fractional derivatives are applied in the reconstruction from a single observable of the dynamics of a Duffing oscillator and a two-well experiment. The fractional derivatives of time series data are obtained in the frequency domain. The derivative fraction is evaluated using the average mutual information between the observable and its fractional derivative. The ability of this reconstruction method to unfold the data is assessed by the method of global false nearest neighbors. The reconstructed data is used to compute recurrences and fractal dimensions. The reconstruction is compared to the true phase space and the delay reconstruction in order to assess the reconstruction parameters and the quality of results.  相似文献

Fractional order models of a spring/spring-pot and spring/spring-pot/actuator element connected into a multibody system are proposed in order to represent smart materials and components in adaptronic systems by introducing new tuning parameter. The models are introduced into dynamic equations via generalized forces and using the Lagrange's equations of the second kind in covariant form. Generalized forces are derived by taking into account fractional order derivatives in force–displacement relations and by using the principle of virtual work. The numerical scheme for solving fractional order differential equations proposed in Atanacković and Stanković (2008) is used in order to approximate fractional order derivative of a composite function appearing in the presented fractional order model. Numerical example for the multibody system with three degrees of freedom is presented. The results obtained for generalized forces are compared for different values of parameters in the fractional order derivative model.  相似文献

A matrix method for describing fully depolarized light is proposed. According to the properties of fully depolarized light it is proved theoretically that this column matrix (Jones vector) can be used to describe unpolarized light as well. Thus, it enables the problems of holographic photoelasticity, including holographic photoelasticity of unpolarized light, to be simply treated by using a unified matrix calculus (Jones calculus).  相似文献

This paper is based on a large-scale empirical study designed to investigate Calculus I programmes across the United States to better understand the relationship between instructors' concerns about coverage, instructional practices, and the nature of the material covered. We found that there was no association between instructors feeling pressured to go through material quickly to cover all the required topics and intended pacing. Furthermore, our results suggest that both intended pacing and feelings of pressure are poor indicators of instructional practices.  相似文献

The purpose of this article is to offer teaching ideas in the treatment of the definite integral concept and the Riemann sums in a technology-supported environment. Specifically, the article offers teaching ideas and activities for classroom for the numerical methods of approximating a definite integral via left- and right-hand Riemann sums, along with midpoint and trapezoidal Riemann sums. The activities demonstrate innovative and creative ways of integrating technology, in particular, GeoGebra dynamic software, into the pedagogy of college-level integral calculus. It also provides, among other things, interesting and original teaching ideas incorporating technology, and an evaluation of these activities by the students themselves who experienced these activities with the GeoGebra dynamic software.  相似文献

In this article, we prove integration by parts (IBP) formulas concerning maxima of solutions to some stochastic differential equations (SDEs). We will deal with three types of maxima. First, we consider discrete time maximum, and then continuous time maximum in the case of one-dimensional SDEs. Finally, we deal with the maximum of the components of a solution to multi-dimensional SDEs.
