Let S be an inner product space and let E(S) (resp. F(S)) be the orthocomplemented poset of all splitting (resp. orthogonally closed) subspaces of S. In this article we study the possible states/charges that E(S) can admit. We first prove that when S is an incomplete inner product space such that dim S/S < , then E(S) admits at least one state with a finite range. This is very much in contrast to states on F(S). We then go on showing that two-valued states can exist on E(S) not only in the case when E(S) consists of the complete/cocomplete subspaces of S. Finally we show that the well known result which states that every regular state on L(H) is necessarily -additive cannot be directly generalized for charges and we conclude by giving a sufficient condition for a regular charge on L(H) to be -additive. 相似文献

Such homomorphisms respect both order and projections.Any (I,)-pop is known to induce a uniformity and thus a topology. The set of all homomorphisms between two (I,)-pop's turns out to form an (I,)-pop itself. We show that its uniformity is the uniformity of uniform convergence. This enables us to prove that properties such as completeness and compactness transfer to function pop's.Concerning categorical properties of (I,)-pop's, we will see that we are in a lucky situation from a computer scientist's point of view: we obtain Cartesian closed categories. We introduce different model structures on the categories of simplicial presheaves and simplicial sheaves on some essentially small Gro-then-dieck site T and give some applications of these simplified model categories. For composition operators on spaces of analytic functions it is well known that norm estimates can be converted to Carleson measure estimates. The boundedness of the composition operator becomes equivalent to a Carleson measure inequality. The field of generalized power series with real coefficients and exponents in an ordered abelian divisible group is a classical tool in the study of real closed fields. We prove the existence of irreducible elements in the ring consisting of the generalized power series with non-positive exponents. The following candidate for such an irreducible series was given by Conway (1976): . Gonshor (1986) studied the question of the existence of irreducible elements and obtained necessary conditions for a series to be irreducible. We show that Conway's series is indeed irreducible. Our results are based on a new kind of valuation taking ordinal numbers as values. If we can give the following test for irreducibility based only on the order type of the support of the series: if the order type is either or of the form and the series is not divisible by any monomial, then it is irreducible. To handle the general case we use a suggestion of
