Efficient domain partitioning algorithms for global optimization of rational and Lipschitz continuous functions

A domain partitioning algorithm for minimizing or maximizing a Lipschitz continuous function is enhanced to yield two new, more efficient algorithms. The use of interval arithmetic in the case of rational functions and the estimates of Lipschitz constants valid in subsets of the domain in the case of others and the addition of local optimization have resulted in an algorithm which, in tests on standard functions, performs well.     

The Newton filtration and d-determination of bifurcation problems related to C~0 contact equivalence

In this paper, from the Newton filtration's point of view, we construct the singular Riemannian metric and use the method in singular theory to study the bifurcation problems, and give the sufficient condition of d-determination of bifurcation problems with respect to C0 contact equivalence. The special cases of the main result in this paper are the results of Sun Weizhi and Zou Jiancheng.     

Generalized indices of operators inB(H)

A generalized dimension is further developed. Here subtraction and addition of two generalized dimensions are defined, so that the operations: ∞ ± n = ∞, ∞ + ∞ = ∞, which used to play an inflexible role, are refined and moreover, ∞ - ∞, which used to be meaningless, is done in sense. Then generalized index for semi-Fred-holm operators is developed to wholeB(H), i.e. all of bounded linear operators in Hilbert spaceH. Theorem 2.2 is proved with an example, which is in contradiction to a known proposition for semi-Fredholm operators in form, practically a refined result of the known proposition. Then, it is proved thatB(H) is the union of countably many disjoint arewise connected sets over all the generalized dimensions ofB(H). A compactness result for Kähler Ricci solitons

In this paper we prove a compactness result for compact Kähler Ricci gradient shrinking solitons. If (Mi,gi) is a sequence of Kähler Ricci solitons of real dimension n?4, whose curvatures have uniformly bounded Ln/2 norms, whose Ricci curvatures are uniformly bounded from below and μ(gi,1/2)?A (where μ is Perelman's functional), there is a subsequence (Mi,gi) converging to a compact orbifold (M_∞,g_∞) with finitely many isolated singularities, where g_∞ is a Kähler Ricci soliton metric in an orbifold sense (satisfies a soliton equation away from singular points and smoothly extends in some gauge to a metric satisfying Kähler Ricci soliton equation in a lifting around singular points).

Approximation Methods for Solving the Cauchy Problem

In this paper we give some new results concerning solvability of the 1-dimensional differential equation y′ = f(x, y) with initial conditions. We study the basic theorem due to Picard. First we prove that the existence and uniqueness result remains true if f is a Lipschitz function with respect to the first argument. In the second part we give a contractive method for the proof of Picard theorem. These considerations allow us to develop two new methods for finding an approximation sequence for the solution. Finally, some applications are given.

Normal Vietoris Implies Compactness: A Short Proof

One of the most celebrated results in the theory of hyperspaces says that if the Vietoris topology on the family of all nonempty closed subsets of a given space is normal, then the space is compact (Ivanova-Keesling-Velichko). The known proofs use cardinality arguments and are long. In this paper we present a short proof using known results concerning Hausdorff uniformities.     

UNIFORM CONVERGENCE OF CESARO MEANS OF NEGATIVE ORDER OF DOUBLE TRIGONOMETRIC FOURIER SERIES

In this paper we prove that iff ∈ C([-π,π]2) and the function f is bounded partial p-variation for some p ∈ [1, ∞), then the double trigonometric Fourier series of a function f is uniformly (C;-α,-β) summable (α β＜ 1/p,α,β＞ 0) in the sense of Pringsheim. If α β≥ 1/p, then there exists a continuous function f0 of bounded partial double trigonometric Fourier series of fo diverge over cubes.
