Deterrents to a Theory of Quantum Gravity

As shown previously, quantum mechanics directly violates the weak equivalence principle in general, and thus indirectly violates the strong equivalence principle in all dimensions. The present paper shows that quantum mechanics also directly violates the strong equivalence principle unless it is arbitrarily abetted in hindsight. Vital domains are shown to exist in which quantum gravity would be non-applicable. There are classical subtleties in which the strong equivalence principle appears to be violated, but is not. Neutron free fall interference experiments in a gravitational field are examined, as is Galileo's falling body assertion and the misconception it leads to.

Equivalence of commutation relations

We consider C*-algebras of commutation relations over the fields ℚ _p, p = 2, 3, 5, …, ∞. We describe all the irreducible separable representations of these algebras. The eight variable homogeneous degree three bent functions

We determine the affine equivalence classes of the eight variable degree three homogeneous bent functions using a new algorithm. Our algorithm applies to general bent functions and can systematically determine the automorphism groups. We provide a partial verification of the enumeration of eight variable degree three homogeneous bent functions obtained by Meng et al. We determine the affine equivalence classes of these functions.     

The equivalence on classical metrics

In this paper we study the complete invariant metrics on Cartan-Hartogs domains which are the special types of Hua domains. Firstly, we introduce a class of new complete invariant metrics on these domains, and prove that these metrics are equivalent to the Bergman metric. Secondly, the Ricci curvatures under these new metrics are bounded from above and below by the negative constants. Thirdly, we estimate the holomorphic sectional curvatures of the new metrics, and prove that the holomorphic sectional curvatures are bounded from above and below by the negative constants. Finally, by using these new metrics and Yau's Schwarz lemma we prove that the new metrics are equivalent to the Einstein-Kahler metric. That means that the Yau's conjecture is true on Cartan-Hartogs domains.     

Classification of Phase Transitions and Ensemble Inequivalence, in Systems with Long Range Interactions

Systems with long range interactions in general are not additive, which can lead to an inequivalence of the microcanonical and canonical ensembles. The microcanonical ensemble may show richer behavior than the canonical one, including negative specific heats and other non-common behaviors. We propose a classification of microcanonical phase transitions, of their link to canonical ones, and of the possible situations of ensemble inequivalence. We discuss previously observed phase transitions and inequivalence in self-gravitating, two-dimensional fluid dynamics and non-neutral plasmas. We note a number of generic situations that have not yet been observed in such systems.

When is an Equally-Weighted Design D-optimal?

We discuss conditions under which an equally weighted design is D-optimal. The concept of a model being maximally invariant with respect to a set is introduced and is shown to be useful in this work. Several illustrative examples are given, including two biomedical applications using compartmental and segmented models.     

Computing the complexity of the relation of isometry between separable Banach spaces

We compute here the Borel complexity of the relation of isometry between separable Banach spaces, using results of Gao, Kechris [2], Mayer‐Wolf [5], and Weaver [8].
