Complete analytic equivalence relations

We prove that various concrete analytic equivalence relations arising in model theory or analysis are complete, i.e. maximum in the Borel reducibility ordering. The proofs use some general results concerning the wider class of analytic quasi-orders.

     

Representation dimension: An invariant under stable equivalence

In this paper, we prove that the representation dimension is an invariant under stable equivalence.

Asymptotic tail behavior of Poisson shot-noise processes with interdependence between shock and arrival time

This paper studies the tail behavior of the Poisson shot-noise processes with interdependent and heavy-tailed random shocks. In the presence of statistical dependence between the shock and its arrival time we establish the asymptotic behavior of the tail probability. Two examples are presented as illustrations of the main results as well.

Conditions on Ramsey Nonequivalence

Given a graph H , a graph G is called a Ramsey graph of H if there is a monochromatic copy of H in every coloring of the edges of G with two colors. Two graphs G , H are called Ramsey equivalent if they have the same set of Ramsey graphs. Fox et al. (J Combin Theory Ser B 109 (2014), 120–133) asked whether there are two nonisomorphic connected graphs that are Ramsey equivalent. They proved that a clique is not Ramsey equivalent to any other connected graph. Results of Ne?et?il et al. showed that any two graphs with different clique number (Combinatorica 1(2) (1981), 199–202) or different odd girth (Comment Math Univ Carolin 20(3) (1979), 565–582) are not Ramsey equivalent. These are the only structural graph parameters we know that “distinguish” two graphs in the above sense. This article provides further supportive evidence for a negative answer to the question of Fox et al. by claiming that for wide classes of graphs, the chromatic number is a distinguishing parameter. In addition, it is shown here that all stars and paths and all connected graphs on at most five vertices are not Ramsey equivalent to any other connected graph. Moreover, two connected graphs are not Ramsey equivalent if they belong to a special class of trees or to classes of graphs with clique‐reduction properties.

Witt equivalence of function fields of curves over local fields

Two fields are Witt equivalent if their Witt rings of symmetric bilinear forms are isomorphic. Witt equivalent fields can be understood to be fields having the same quadratic form theory. The behavior of finite fields, local fields, global fields, as well as function fields of curves defined over Archimedean local fields under Witt equivalence is well understood. Numbers of classes of Witt equivalent fields with finite numbers of square classes are also known in some cases. Witt equivalence of general function fields over global fields was studied in the earlier work [13 G?adki, P., Marshall, M. Witt equivalence of function fields over global fields. Trans. Am. Math. Soc., electronically published on April 11, 2017, doi: https://doi.org/10.1090/tran/6898 (to appear in print).[Crossref] , [Google Scholar]] by the authors and applied to study Witt equivalence of function fields of curves over global fields. In this paper, we extend these results to local case, i.e. we discuss Witt equivalence of function fields of curves over local fields. As an application, we show that, modulo some additional assumptions, Witt equivalence of two such function fields implies Witt equivalence of underlying local fields.     

Stable functors of derived equivalences and Gorenstein projective modules

From certain triangle functors, called nonnegative functors, between the bounded derived categories of abelian categories with enough projective objects, we introduce their stable functors which are certain additive functors between the stable categories of the abelian categories. The construction generalizes a previous work by Hu and Xi. We show that the stable functors of nonnegative functors have nice exactness property and are compatible with composition of functors. This allows us to compare conveniently the homological properties of objects linked by the stable functors. In particular, we prove that the stable functor of a derived equivalence between two arbitrary rings provides an explicit triangle equivalence between the stable categories of Gorenstein projective modules. This generalizes a result of Y. Kato. Our results can also be applied to provide shorter proofs of some known results on homological conjectures.
