Summary Adsorption properties of activated carbon cloth were investigated by gas-solid chromatography. Retention of several organic compounds was measured in the temperature range from 200 to 250°C. The gas/solid distribution coefficients and the related thermodynamic function of adsorption at zero surface coverage were determined. The obtained experimental data were used to explain the adsorbent-adsorbate interaction.  相似文献

An account is given of the use of Gaussian quadrature product formulae in the evaluation of certain six-dimensional, two-centre integrals involving one-electron Green's functions. These integrals occur in a new molecular variational principle recently proposed by Hall, Hyslop and Rees [1] from which an approximate energy may be derived which can be shown to be at least as good as that obtained from the Rayleigh-Ritz principle. Reductions in computing time are realized by removing certain singularities using a subtraction technique and also by using an empirically determined Richardson-type extrapolation formula.This paper was presented during the session on numerical integration methods for molecules of the 1970 Quantum Theory Conference in Nottingham. The heat capacity and the heat content of gallium nitride were measured by calvet calorimetry (320-570 K) and by drop calorimetry (670-1270 K), respectively. The temperature dependence of the heat capacity in the form Cpm=49.552+5.440×10−3T−2.190×106T−2+2.460×108T−3 was derived by the least squares method. Furthermore, thermodynamic functions calculated on the basis of our experimental results and literature data on the molar entropy and the heat of formation of GaN are given.  相似文献

Fisher linear discriminant analysis is a well-known technique for dimensionality reduction and classification. The method was first formulated in 1936 by Fisher. In this paper we concentrate on three different formulations of the multi-dimensional problem. We provide a mathematical explanation why two of the formulations are equivalent and prove that this equivalency can be extended to a broader class of objective functions. The second contribution is a rate of convergence of a fixed point method for solving the third model.  相似文献

We show rigorously that the ground state of a quantum chain with competing ferromagnetic nearest and antiferromagnetic next nearest interactions undergoes a transition from ferromagnetic to helical type, in the isotropic case, for a certain value of the relevant ratio of coupling constants. Boundaries of the phase diagram are also determined in the anisotropic case. The stability of a special quantum state (corresponding to a classical modulated phase of =/3) is analyzed by an extension of Holstein-Primakoff arguments, along a line of constant ratio of couplings, showing in particular a sequence of (instability) gaps. Finally, a natural adaptation of a variational wave function due to Huse and Elser is used to study several portions of the phase diagram, with very good agreement with previous theoretical results.  相似文献

We present a method for the derivation of the generating function and computation of critical exponents for several cluster models (staircase, bar-graph, and directed column-convex polygons, as well as partially directed self-avoiding walks), starting with nonlinear functional equations for the generating function. By linearizing these equations, we first give a derivation of the generating functions. The nonlinear equations are further used to compute the thermodynamic critical exponents via a formal perturbation ansatz. Alternatively, taking the continuum limit leads to nonlinear differential equations, from which one can extract the scaling function. We find that all the above models are in the same universality class with exponents u =-1/2, i =-1/3, and =2/3. All models have as their scaling function the logarithmic derivative of the Airy function.  相似文献

In Ref. 1, the author claimed that the problem y=y 3 is soluble only for a certain range of the parameter . An analytic approach, as adopted in the following contribution, reveals that a unique solution exists for any positive value of . The solution is given in closed form by means of Jacobian elliptic functions, which can be numerically computed very efficiently. In the limit 0+, the solutions exhibit boundary-layer behavior at both endpoints. An easily interpretable approximate solution for small is obtained using a three-variable approach.  相似文献
