Phase shifting photoelasticity in white light

The availability of image acquisition systems has led to the development of digital photoelasticity both in monochromatic and white light. In particular white light has been used mainly with the following methods: Spectral Content Analysis, RGB photoelasticity and phase shifting photoelasticity. Phase shifting photoelasticity in the colour domain has been used effectively for the determination of the isoclinic parameter in order to reduce the influence of the isochromatic fringes. The method has been also proposed for the determination of the isochromatic fringe order. This paper concerns the general characteristics of phase shifting photoelasticity in the colour domain. Special attention is drawn towards the influence of spectral content of the light source, the spectral response of the colour camera filters, the dispersion of the birefringence and the error of quarter wave plates.

衰减相移掩模及其编码制作方法研究

在霍普金斯理论的基础上,对方孔的传统掩模、衰减相移以及加入光学邻近效应校正的衰减相移掩模在硅片表面光强分布的计算表明,衰减相掩模有提高光刻分辨率的显著功能,提出一种制作衰减相移掩模的编码方法。理论计算表明,该编码方法能够达到预定的衰减参数。     

改进的2PPJ格式

提出了解线性代数方程组的一种方法,称为改进的2PPJ(Modified two parameters parallel Jacobi-type)格式,简记为M2PPJ.讨论了它的收敛性和最优参数的选取.收敛速度比2PPJ格式快一倍以上.给出的数值结果说明本方法的优越性.     

移相器微位移旋转误差的分析及测试

以压电陶瓷(PZT)微位移器为主要研究对象, 引入一种处理静态干涉图的新方法--虚光栅移相叠栅条纹法,设计实验对一台实际使用的移相器微位移旋转误差进行测试研究,对其引起的波面旋转情况进行了定量的计算分析,并给出测试结果.用虚光栅移相叠栅条纹法处理实验中加有载频的干涉图时,不需要使用任何移相器件,可以进行动态位相的检测,整个移相过程用计算机进行控制,避免了引入额外的移相误差.     

A modified SPH method to model the coalescence of colliding non-Newtonian liquid droplets

This paper develops a modified smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) method to model the coalescence of colliding non-Newtonian liquid droplets. In the present SPH, a van der Waals (vdW) equation of state is particularly used to represent the gas-to-liquid phase transition similar to that of a real fluid. To remove the unphysical behavior of the particle clustering, also known as tensile instability, an optimized particle shifting technique is implemented in the simulations. To validate the numerical method, the formation of a Newtonian vdW droplet is first tested, and it clearly demonstrates that the tensile instability can be effectively removed. The method is then extended to simulate the head-on binary collision of vdW liquid droplets. Both Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluid flows are considered. The effect of Reynolds number on the coalescence process of droplets is analyzed. It is observed that the time up to the completion of the first oscillation period does not always increase as the Reynolds number increases. Results for the off-center binary collision of non-Newtonian vdW liquid droplets are lastly presented. All the results enrich the simulations of the droplet dynamics and deepen understandings of flow physics. Also, the present SPH is able to model the coalescence of colliding non-Newtonian liquid droplets without tensile instability.     

Decay of correlations in surface models

A convergent low-temperature expansion for a variety of models of twodimensional surfaces is presented. It yields existence of the thermodynamic limit for the pressure and correlation functions as well as analyticity inz =e ^– In addition, the estimates give exponential decay of truncated correlations, which proves the existence of a gap in the spectrum of the transfer matrix below the ground state eigenvalue. Two particular examples included in the general framework are the solid-on-solid and discrete Gaussian models.Supported in part by the National Science Foundation under grant No. PHY 79-16812.
