Many problems of mechanics and physics are posed in unbounded (or infinite) domains. For solving these problems one typically limits them to bounded domains and finds ways to set appropriate conditions on artificial boundaries or use quasi-uniform grid that maps unbounded domains to bounded ones. Differently from the above methods we approach to problems in unbounded domains by infinite systems of equations. In this paper we develop this approach for an elliptic problem in an infinite semistrip. Using the idea of Polozhii in the method of summary representations we transform the infinite system of three-point vector equations to infinite systems of three-point scalar equations and obtain the approximate solution with a given accuracy. Numerical experiments for several examples show the effectiveness of the proposed method.  相似文献

It is known that every locally projectively flat Finsler metric is of scalar flag curvature. Conversely, it may not be true. In this paper, for a certain class of Finsler metrics, we prove that it is locally projectively flat if and only if it is of scalar flag curvature. We present a new matrix-free method for the computation of negative curvature directions based on the eigenstructure of minimal-memory BFGS matrices. We determine via simple formulas the eigenvalues of these matrices and we compute the desirable eigenvectors by explicit forms. Consequently, a negative curvature direction is computed in such a way that avoids the storage and the factorization of any matrix. We propose a modification of the L-BFGS method in which no information is kept from old iterations, so that memory requirements are minimal. The proposed algorithm incorporates a curvilinear path and a linesearch procedure, which combines two search directions; a memoryless quasi-Newton direction and a direction of negative curvature. Results of numerical experiments for large scale problems are also presented.  相似文献

We consider a wave equation with fractional-order dissipative terms modeling visco-thermal losses on the lateral walls of a duct, namely the Webster-Lokshin model. Diffusive representations of fractional derivatives are used, first to prove existence and uniqueness results, then to design a numerical scheme which avoids the storage of the entire history of past data. Two schemes are proposed depending on the choice of a quadrature rule in the Laplace domain. The first one mimics the continuous energy balance but suffers from a loss of accuracy in long time simulation. The second one provides uniform control of the accuracy. However, even though the latter is more efficient and numerically stable under the standard CFL condition, no discrete energy balance has been yet found for it. Numerical results of comparisons with a closed-form solution are provided.  相似文献

In this paper, we study groups of positive operators on Banach lattices. If a certain factorization property holds for the elements of such a group, the group has a homomorphic image in the isometric positive operators which has the same invariant ideals as the original group. If the group is compact in the strong operator topology, it equals a group of isometric positive operators conjugated by a single central lattice automorphism, provided an additional technical assumption is satisfied, for which we have only examples. We obtain a characterization of positive representations of a group with compact image in the strong operator topology, and use this for normalized symmetric Banach sequence spaces to prove an ordered version of the decomposition theorem for unitary representations of compact groups. Applications concerning spaces of continuous functions are also considered.  相似文献
