A search for light penetrating scalar and pseudoscalar bosons has been performed at the Jülich nuclear-reactor FRJ-1 (Merlin). In nuclear deexcitation processes pseudoscalar particles should be emitted in magnetic transitions and scalar particles in electric transitions. The experiment relies on the detection of the interaction products from the conversion of bosons in the field of an electron or a nucleus with a rotatable multi-scintillator system. The geometrical arrangement of the scintillators allows to distinguish between scalar and pseudoscalar particles via the different angular distributions of the final state photons. We obtain as upper limits for the product of production ratio and interaction cross sectionW for pseudoscalar particles W}<6.9>6.9>–40 cm2, and for scalar particles W}<1.3>1.3>–39 cm2 with 90% confidence.We gratefully acknowledge the support of this experiment by the KFA Jülich and we are very grateful for most valuable discussions with H. We study the reaction
– +A + (A
–) with the – bound in the nucleus, as a means of producing deeply bound pionic states in nuclei, so far unobserved. The reaction is similar to the (n, p) reaction but, because of the
–, mass difference, it allows the reaction to occur with smaller momentum transfer, thus increasing the transition probability and reducing the effects of distortion. The ratios of signal to background are one to two orders of magnitude better than in the (n, p) reaction.We would like to thank C. Dover and G. The neutron-deficient rhenium isotopes166–170Re were investigated using reactions of32S with monoisotopic141Pr targets. Gamma-rays following the-decays of166–169Re were measured for the first time. Four new-rays with energies of 4.70,4.83, 4.87, and 5.02 MeV were detected in addition to the known 5.50, 5.26, and 5.06 MeV-rays. Alpha-decaying isomer pairs were discovered in167Re and169Re. The measured half-lives are 2.3(2)s for166Re, 3.4(4)s and 6.2(5)s for167Re, 4.4(1)s for168Re, 8.1(5)s and 16.3(8)s for169Re, and 9.2(2)s for170Re. 1/2, =535 nm have been measured for theI=7 andI=2 states of190, 192, 194, 196Tl; theI=1/2 andI=9/2 states of191Tl and the I=7 isomer of188Tl. The thallium isotopes were prepared as fast atomic beams at the GSI on-line mass separator following fusion reactions and — in some cases — subsequent-decay. The nuclear dipole moments, electric quadrupole moments and the change in the nuclear mean square charge radius are evaluated. We apply smoothing procedures to response functions for isoscalar vibrations. For collective motion, we find a transition from a structured strength distribution to one corresponding to one incoherent, strongly overdamped mode. It is argued that the latter may be interpreted as macroscopic motion exhibiting, to some extent, features of the hydrodynamical model. Bound state pion production in40Ca and120Sn nuclei in (p,2p) and (n,d) reactions is investigated. The differential and total cross sections have been obtained. It is shown that the cross sections are determined by the overlap function of the bound states of the nucleon and pion, and as consequence,s-wave part of the pion-nucleus optical potential. Infinite nuclear matter composed of nucleons and hyperons in various mixture ratios is considered with the Skyrme-like phenomenological potentials. Basic characteristics (energy, density, incompressibility, symmetry energy, chemical potentials) are calculated and their link with the potentials properties is studied. Conditions of stability with respect to baryon emission are analyzed and it is shown that neutron-rich systems are preferable for binding the highest possible number of hyperons. 相似文献

We discuss here the effect of dissipation of relative angular momentum on fluctuations of excitation functions in dissipative heavy-ion collisions. Dissipation and fluctuation of relative angular momentum modify and smooth the time-angle localization of the rotating dinuclear system. The secondary maxima in the energy correlation function of the cross-section shift to smaller values of the energy difference, the shift depending on the relaxation time and the diffusion coefficient for angular-momentum dissipation. The results are illustrated for the collision28Si(E
