Conjugacy Classes and Invariant Subrings of R-Automorphisms of R[x]

We consider the group G of R-automorphisms of the polynomial ring R[x] in the case where the ring R has nonzero nilpotent elements. Little is known about G in this case, and because of the importance of G in understanding questions involving the polynomial ring R[x], we initiate here several lines of investigation. We do this by examining in detail examples involving the ring of integers modulo n. If R is a local ring with maximal ideal m such that R/m = ?₂ and m ² = (0), we describe more explicitly the structure of G and determine all rings of invariants of R[x] with respect to subgroups of G.     

Recognition of ring pairs in the data analysis of Cherenkov detectors

We present a new algorithm for the identification of ring pairs in Cherenkov detectors. The approach combines linear regression methods for the construction of an appropriate reference quantity, methods from statistics for the evaluation of hypotheses and Monte Carlo simulation runs for the tuning of threshold levels.     

Noise processes in large ring lasers

Large ring lasers with a cavity Q well above 10¹² are characterized by extremely narrow line-widths and high coherence. At this point, active Sagnac interferometers do not quite reach the quantum limit. In this paper, we will explore the current status of this technology and look at the various noise processes involved with large ring lasers rigidly mounted to the Earth crust.     

Finitely presented and coherent ordered modules and rings

We extend the usual definition of coherence, for modules over rings, to partially ordered right modules over a large class of partially ordered rings, called po-rings. In this situation, coherence is equivalent to saying that solution sets of finite systems of inequalities are finitely generated semimodules. Coherence for ordered rings and modules, which we call po-coherence, has the following features:.

(i) Every subring of Q, and every totally ordered division ring, is po-coherent.

(ii) For a partially ordered right module Aover a po-coherent poring R Ais po-coherent if and only if Ais a finitely presented .R-module and A ⁺is a finitely generated R ⁺-semimodule.

(iii) Every finitely po-presented partially ordered right module over a right po-coherent po-ring is po-coherent.

(iv) Every finitely po-presented abelian lattice-ordered group is po-coherent.     

广义幂级数环的PP性质

作为幂级数环的推广,Ｒｉｂｅｎｂｏｉｍ引入了广义幂级数环的概念．设Ｒ是有单位元的交换环,（Ｊ,≤）是严格全序半群．本文中我们证明了如下结果：（１）广义幂级数环 ［［Ｒｓ］］是ＰＰ－环当且仅当Ｒ是ＰＰ－环且Ｂ（Ｒ）的任意 Ｓ－可标子集Ｃ在Ｂ（Ｒ）中有最小上界;（２）如果对任意ｓ∈Ｓ都有０≤ｓ,则［［Ｒｓ,≤］］是弱ＰＰ－环当且仅当Ｒ是弱ＰＰ－环．我们还给出了一个例子说明交换的弱ＰＰ－环可以不是ＰＰ－环．     

Determinación de la presión sonora radiada por pistones circulares y anillos no planos usando un método numérico simplificado

Although the study of the sound pressure radiation from membranes and plates is not new, current and future applications have produced a large body of recent research in the field. Several works have been published on the radiation from general plane surfaces and some particular geometries such as rectangular, circular, elliptic and annular. However, the case of sound radiation from non-planar axisymmetric rings that could be applied to the design of coaxial loudspeakers has not received much attention. In this article, a simplified numerical approach for determining the sound pressure radiated from symmetric non-planar pistons and rings is presented. The method can also include those cases having a radially-symmetric velocity distribution.     

Complete Surjections and Complete Epimorphisms over Completely Distributive Lattices

Generators and lattice properties of the poset of complete homomorphisic images of a completely distributive lattice are exploited via the localic methods. Some intrinsic and extrinsic conditions about this poset to be a completely distributive lattice are given. It is shown that the category of completely distributive lattices is co-well-powered,and complete epimorphisms on completely distributive lattice are not necessary to be surjections. Finally, some conditions about complete epimorphisms to be surjections are given.

环上的模糊理想幂格及其强截集诱导的格

给出了环上模糊理想幂格的概念,得到相关性质。进而由环上模糊理想强截集诱导出格,讨论了它不是分配格,但为模格。同时,将环上升为主理想环,得到了模糊理想乘积的强截集等于强截集的乘积,且都为环的理想。最后,讨论了Boolean环的模糊子集为模糊理想与其伴随构成交半格的关系。     

n-Star modules over ring extensions

We give conditions under which an n-star module extends to an n-star module, or an n-tilting module, over a ring extension R of A. In case that R is a split extension of A by Q, we obtain that is a 1-tilting module (respectively, a 1-star module) if and only if is a 1-tilting module (respectively, a 1-star module) and generates both and (respectively, generates ), where is an injective cogenerator in the category of all left A-modules. These extend results in [I. Assem, N. Marmaridis, Tilting modules over split-by-nilpotent extensions, Comm. Algebra 26 (1998) 1547–1555; K.R. Fuller, *-Modules over ring extensions, Comm. Algebra 25 (1997) 2839–2860] by removing the restrictions on R and Q.
