Risk-sensitive average continuous-time Markov decision processes with unbounded rates

Abstract

In this paper we study the risk-sensitive average cost criterion for continuous-time Markov decision processes in the class of all randomized Markov policies. The state space is a denumerable set, and the cost and transition rates are allowed to be unbounded. Under the suitable conditions, we establish the optimality equation of the auxiliary risk-sensitive first passage optimization problem and obtain the properties of the corresponding optimal value function. Then by a technique of constructing the appropriate approximating sequences of the cost and transition rates and employing the results on the auxiliary optimization problem, we show the existence of a solution to the risk-sensitive average optimality inequality and develop a new approach called the risk-sensitive average optimality inequality approach to prove the existence of an optimal deterministic stationary policy. Furthermore, we give some sufficient conditions for the verification of the simultaneous Doeblin condition, use a controlled birth and death system to illustrate our conditions and provide an example for which the risk-sensitive average optimality strict inequality occurs.

Random pinning model with finite range correlations: Disorder relevant regime

The purpose of this paper is to show how one can extend some results on disorder relevance obtained for the random pinning model with i.i.d disorder to the model with finite range correlated disorder. In a previous work, the annealed critical curve of the latter model was computed, and equality of quenched and annealed critical points, as well as exponents, was proved under some conditions on the return exponent of the interarrival times. Here we complete this work by looking at the disorder relevant regime, where annealed and quenched critical points differ. All these results show that the Harris criterion, which was proved to be correct in the i.i.d case, remains valid in our setup. We strongly use Markov renewal constructions that were introduced in the solving of the annealed model.     

A criterion for quantum teleportation of an arbitrary N-particle state via a 2N-particle quantum channel

A criterion for he tquantum teleportation of an arbitrary N-particle state via a 2N-particle quantum channel is presented by introducing a term of the "judgment operator". Using the criterion, not only the qualitative judgment of the possibility of successful teleportation can be made but also the quantitative calculation of the probability of successful teleportation can be explicitly given. In addition, a new genuine four-qubit entangled state is proposed, which could not belong to the category of previously known states under stochastic local operations and classical communication.     

Effects of three-body atomic interaction and optical lattice on solitons in quasi-one-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensate

We make use of a coordinate-free approach to implement Vakhitov-Kolokolov criterion for stability analysis in order to study the effects of three-body atomic recombination and lattice potential on the matter-wave bright solitons formed in Bose-Einstein condensates. We analytically demonstrate that (i) the critical number of atoms in a stable BEC soliton is just half the number of atoms in a marginally stable Townes-like soliton and (ii) an additive optical lattice potential further reduces this number by a factor of √1 − bg ₃ with g ₃ the coupling constant of the lattice potential and b = 0.7301.      

On the relative connections

Abstract

We investigate relative connections on a sheaf of modules. A sufficient condition is given for the existence of a relative holomorphic connection on a holomorphic vector bundle over a complex analytic family. We show that the relative Chern classes of a holomorphic vector bundle admitting relative holomorphic connection vanish, if each of the fiber of the complex analytic family is compact and Kähler.
