Asymptotic stability and instability of the solutions of systems with impulse action

In this paper, we study the stability of the zero solution of a system of ordinary differential equations subject to impulse action. Using the method of Lyapunov functions, we obtain tests for asymptotic stability or instability of the system. Illustrative examples are given.     

On solutions of third order nonlinear differential equations

The aim of our paper is to study oscillatory and asymptotic properties of solutions of nonlinear differential equations of the third order with deviating argument. In particular, we prove a comparison theorem for properties A and B as well as a comparison result on property A between nonlinear equations with and without deviating arguments. Our assumptions on nonlinearity f are related to its behavior only in a neighbourhood of zero and/or of infinity.

A semi-implicit monotone difference scheme for an initial-boundary value problem of a strongly degenerate parabolic equation modeling sedimentation-consolidation processes

We prove the convergence of a semi-implicit monotone finite difference scheme approximating an initial-boundary value problem for a spatially one-dimensional quasilinear strongly degenerate parabolic equation, which is supplied with two different inhomogeneous flux-type boundary conditions. This problem arises in the modeling of the sedimentation-consolidation process. We formulate the definition of entropy solution of the model in the sense of Kru kov and prove convergence of the scheme to the unique entropy solution of the problem, up to satisfaction of one of the boundary conditions.
