The present study reports the development of a novel technique to quantify binder melt on the surface of the propellant. Non-aluminized AP-HTPB propellants of 86% particulate loading are used to illustrate the technique. Elemental maps of unburnt and extinguished propellant surface are obtained using EDS (Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy). Overlap between the elements is identified and the elemental maps are processed to calculate AP and binder area exposed in unburnt and extinguished samples. The AP area exposed is found to be around 72.3% and 63.3% for unburnt and extinguished samples, respectively, indicating a reduction in AP exposed area with extinguished samples. This has been attributed to the binder melt discussed in literature but never quantified. Simulations have been carried out to analyze and understand the effects of this binder melt. A random packing algorithm is used to simulate propellant packs. Also, a methodology to account for binder melt layer is introduced and is used to capture AP exposed areas. Effect of binder melt in propellants with different solid loading and varying particle size is discussed. It is shown that fine AP particles are more prone to being covered by binder melt than the coarse AP particles. A possible explanation to the behavior of plateau burning propellants observed in literature has been provided through this analysis. 相似文献

The celebrated quantum no-cloning theorem states that an arbitrary quantum state cannot be cloned perfectly. This raises questions about cloning of classical states, which have also attracted attention. Here, we present a physical approach to the classical cloning process showing how cloning can be realised using Hamiltonians. After writing down a canonical transformation that clones classical states, we show how this can be implemented by Hamiltonian evolution. We then propose an experiment using the tools of nonlinear optics to realise the ideas presented here. Finally, to understand the cloning process in a more realistic context, we introduce statistical mechanical noise to the system and study how this affects the cloning process. While most of our work deals with linear systems and harmonic oscillators, we give some examples of cloning maps on manifolds and show that any system whose configuration space is a group manifold admits a cloning canonical transformation. 相似文献

We consider iterated maps with a reflectional symmetry. Possible bifurcations in such systems include period-doubling bifurcations (within the symmetric subspace) and symmetry-breaking bifurcations. By using a second parameter, these bifurcations can be made to coincide at a mode interaction. By reformulating the period-doubling bifurcation as a symmetry-breaking bifurcation, two bifurcation equations with Z2×Z2 symmetry are derived. A local analysis of solutions is then considered, including the derivation of conditions for a tertiary Hopf bifurcation. We investigate numerically the stable and unstable manifolds of the hyperbolic manifolds of the phase space related to the resonances of quasi-integrable systems in the regime of validity of the Nekhoroshev and KAM theorems. Using a model of weakly interacting resonances we explain the qualitative features of these manifolds characterized by peculiar ‘flower-like’ structures. We detect different transitions in the topology of these manifolds related to the local rational approximations of the frequencies. We find numerically a correlation among these transitions and the speed of Arnold diffusion. 相似文献

We study the normal forms for incompressible flows and maps in the neighborhood of an equilibrium or fixed point with a triple eigenvalue. We prove that when a divergence-free vector field in R3 has nilpotent linearization with maximal Jordan block then, to arbitrary degree, coordinates can be chosen so that the nonlinear terms occur as a single function of two variables in the third component. The analogue for volume-preserving diffeomorphisms gives an optimal normal form in which the truncation of the normal form at any degree gives an exactly volume-preserving map whose inverse is also polynomial with the same degree. 相似文献
