Some conformally flat spin manifolds, Dirac operators and automorphic forms

In this paper we study Clifford and harmonic analysis on some examples of conformal flat manifolds that have a spinor structure, or more generally, at least a pin structure. The examples treated here are manifolds that can be parametrized by U/Γ where U is a subdomain of either Sn or Rn and Γ is a Kleinian group acting discontinuously on U. The examples studied here include RPn and the Hopf manifolds S¹×Sn−1. Also some hyperbolic manifolds will be treated. Special kinds of Clifford-analytic automorphic forms associated to the different choices of Γ are used to construct explicit Cauchy kernels, Cauchy integral formulas, Green's kernels and formulas together with Hardy spaces and Plemelj projection operators for Lp spaces of hypersurfaces lying in these manifolds.     

Rozansky–Witten invariants via Atiyah classes

Recently, L. Rozansky and E. Witten associated to any hyper-Kähler manifold X a system of weights (numbers, one for each trivalent graph) and used them to construct invariants of topological 3-manifolds. We give a simple cohomological definition of these weights in terms of the Atiyah class of X (the obstruction to the existence of a holomorphic connection). We show that the analogy between the tensor of curvature of a hyper-Kähler metric and the tensor of structure constants of a Lie algebra observed by Rozansky and Witten, holds in fact for any complex manifold, if we work at the level of cohomology and for any Kähler manifold, if we work at the level of Dolbeault cochains. As an outcome of our considerations, we give a formula for Rozansky–Witten classes using any Kähler metric on a holomorphic symplectic manifold.     

A controlled boundary theorem for Hilbert cube manifolds

In this paper a boundary theorem for Hilbert cube manifolds is established,where it is required that the boundary be put on the manifold with arbitrarily small control in a given compact metric parameter space.     

A Penrose-like inequality for maximal asymptotically flat spin initial data sets

We prove a Penrose-like inequality for the mass of a large class of constant mean curvature (CMC) asymptotically flat n-dimensional spin manifolds which satisfy the dominant energy condition and have a future converging, or past converging compact and connected boundary of non-positive mean curvature and of positive Yamabe invariant. We prove that for every n ≥ 3 the mass is bounded from below by an expression involving the norm of the linear momentum, the volume of the boundary, dimensionless geometric constants and some normalized Sobolev ratio.     

Some Global Optimization Problems on Stiefel Manifolds

Optimization on Stiefel manifolds was discussed by Rapcsák in earlier papers, and some global optimization methods were considered and tested on Stiefel manifolds. In the paper, test functions are given with known global optimum points and their optimal function values. A restriction, which leads to a discretization of the problem is suggested, which results in a problem equivalent to the well-known assignment problem.     

Integrated Density of States For Random Metrics on Manifolds

We study ergodic random Schrödinger operators on a coveringmanifold, where the randomness enters both via the potentialand the metric. We prove measurability of the random operators,almost sure constancy of their spectral properties, the existenceof a self-averaging integrated density of states and a Pastur–ubintype trace formula. 2000 Mathematics Subjects Classification35J10, 58J35, 82B44.     

Some Remarks on Complex Crowns of Riemannian Symmetric Spaces

We discuss several results and problems in which complex geometric constructions appear in the geometry of real pseudo Riemannian symmetric spaces in connection with analysis on such spaces.     

Stable complete minimal surfaces in hyperkähler manifolds

In this paper we prove that an isometric stable minimal immersion of a complete oriented surface into a hyperkähler 4-manifold is holomorphic with respect to an orthogonal complex structure, if it satisfies a Bernstein-type assumption on the Gauss-lift. This result generalizes a theorem of Micallef for minimal surfaces in the euclidean 4-space. An example found by Atiyah and Hitchin shows that the assumption on the Gauss-lift is necessary.
