In this paper, we discuss the viscosity solutions of the weakly coupled systems of fully nonlinear second-order degenerate parabolic equations and their Cauchy-Dirichlet problem. We prove the existence, uniqueness and continuity of viscosity solution by combining Perron's method with the technique of coupled solutions. The results here generalize those in Proc. London Math. Soc. 63 (1991) 212-240 and Comm. Partial Differential Equations 16 (1991) 1095-1128.  相似文献

We consider the problem of determining the dielectric permittivity for a nonconducting and nonmagnetic medium. As information we take the traces of the tangential components of the electromagnetic field on the lateral surface of a cylindrical domain. These traces correspond to a solution to some direct problem for the Maxwell system. The impulse source of the current flux lies outside the domain in which the coefficient is sought. The main result of the article is a stability estimate for a solution to the inverse problem in question.  相似文献

There are few techniques available to numerically solve sixth-order boundary-value problems with two-point boundary conditions. In this paper we show that the Sinc-Galerkin method is a very effective tool in numerically solving such problems. The method is then tested on examples with homogeneous and nonhomogeneous boundary conditions and a comparison with the modified decomposition method is made. It is shown that the Sinc-Galerkin method yields better results.

The theory of monotone semiflows has been widely applied to functional differential equations (FDEs). The studies on the theory and applications of monotone semiflows for FDEs are very important and interesting. A brief des-cription of our recent works are as follows.By using general monotone semiflow theory, several results of positively invariant sets, monotone solutions and contracting rectangles of retarded functional differential equations(RFDEs) with infinite delay are gained under the assumption of quasimonotonicity; sufficient conditions for the existence, un-iqueness and global attractivity of periodic solutions are also established by combining the theory of monotone semiflows for neutral functional differential equations(NFDEs) and Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem.  相似文献

We study a class of shape optimization problems for semi-linear elliptic equations with Dirichlet boundary conditions in smooth domains in ℝ2. A part of the boundary of the domain is variable as the graph of a smooth function. The problem is equivalently reformulated on a fixed domain. Continuity of the solution to the state equation with respect to domain variations is shown. This is used to obtain differentiability in the general case, and moreover a useful formula for the gradient of the cost functional in the case where the principal part of the differential operator is the Laplacian. In this paper, three new direct Mutually Orthogonal Latin Squares (MOLS) constructions are presented for 7 MOLS(24), 7 MOLS(75) and 8 MOLS(36); then using recursive methods, several new constructions for 7 and 8 MOLS are obtained. These reduce the largest value for which 7 MOLS are unknown from 780 to 570, and the largest odd value for which 8 MOLS are unknown from 1935 to 419. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

A class of Cauchy problems for interesting complicated periodic pseudodifferential equations is considered. By the Galerkin-wavelet method and with weak solutions one can find sufficient conditions to establish convergence estimates of weak Galerkin-wavelet solutions to a Cauchy problem for this class of equations.

The notion of a phase space in classical mechanics is well known. The extension of this concept to field theory however, is a challenging endeavor, and over the years numerous proposals for such a generalization have appeared in the literature. In this paper We review a Hamiltonian formulation of Lagrangian field theory based on an extension to infinite dimensions of J.-M. Souriau's symplectic approach to mechanics. Following G. Zuckerman, we state our results in terms of the modern geometric theory of differential equations and the variational bicomplex. As an elementary example, we construct a phase space for the Monge–Ampere equation.  相似文献
