Equivalent quasi-norms on Lorentz spaces

We give new characterizations of Lorentz spaces by means of certain quasi-norms which are shown to be equivalent to the classical ones.

     

Analytic continuation of the exponential transform from convex cavities

The analytic continuation of the exponential transform of a domain in Rn is proved under some global geometric assumptions on the boundary. Two approximation schemes of the continued transform (one based on a Taylor series truncation, the other on a global eigenfunction expansion) are also discussed.     

Non-homeomorphic density topologies

In [ANISZCZYK, B.-FRANKIEWICZ, R.: Non homeomorphic density topologies, Bull. Polish Acad. Sci. Math. 34 (1986), 211–213] the authors constructed 2^c non-homeomorphic density topologies tied to the concept of measure. In [WROŃSKI, S.: The number of non-homeomorphic I-density topologies. Institute of Mathematics of Polish Academy of Sciences. Preprint 482, December 1990, XXXIV Semester in Banach Center, Theory of Real Functions] an analogous construction has been given for topologies tied to the concept of category. Here we present a generalization containing both the results mentioned above. This generalization based only on the topological ideas is independent of the concept of measure or category. The Fundamental Solutions of the Space, Space-Time Riesz Fractional Partial Differential Equations with Periodic Conditions

In this paper, the space-time Riesz fractional partial differential equations with periodic conditions are considered. The equations are obtained from the integral partial differential equation by replacing the time derivative with a Caputo fractional derivative and the space derivative with Riesz potential. The fundamental solutions of the space Riesz fractional partial differential equation (SRFPDE) and the space-time Riesz fractional partial differential equation (STRFPDE) are discussed, respectively. Using methods of Fourier series expansion and Laplace transform, we derive the explicit expressions of the fundamental solutions for the SRFPDE and the STRFPDE, respectively.

Derivative Estimates of Semigroups and Riesz Transforms on Vector Bundles

We use versions of Bismut type derivative formulas obtained by Driver and Thalmaier [9], to prove derivative estimates for various heat semigroups on Riemannian vector bundles. As an application, the weak (1,1) property for a class of Riesz transforms on a vector bundle is established. Some concrete examples of vector bundles (e.g., differential forms) are considered to illustrate the results.     

On a generalization of the Kalman-Yakubovic lemma

In this paper we generalize the Kalman-Yakubovic lemma to infinite dimensions—or, more precisely, to semigroups of operators over a Hilbert space. The proof differs substantially from the finite-dimensional version and is based on the Paley-Wiener-Helson-Lowdenslager factorization theorem.
