Series solutions of coupled differential equations with one regular singular point

We consider two linear second-order ordinary differential equations. r=0 is a regular singular point of these equations. Applying the classical Method of Frobenius, we do not obtain any indicial equation and therefore no solution, because the differential equations are coupled.

In this paper, we present an extended Method of Frobenius on a coupled system of two ordinary differential equations. These equations come from the micropolar theory, which is one of the three kinds of the new 3M physics.

On rings with small Hilbert-Kunz multiplicity

A result of Watanabe and Yoshida says that an unmixed local ring of positive characteristic is regular if and only if its Hilbert-Kunz multiplicity is one. We show that, for fixed and , there exists a number 0$"> such that for any nonregular unmixed ring its Hilbert-Kunz multiplicity is at least . We also show that local rings with sufficiently small Hilbert-Kunz multiplicity are Cohen-Macaulay and -rational.

     

Classification of regular maps of negative prime Euler characteristic

We give a classification of all regular maps on nonorientable surfaces with a negative odd prime Euler characteristic (equivalently, on nonorientable surfaces of genus where is an odd prime). A consequence of our classification is that there are no regular maps on nonorientable surfaces of genus where is a prime such that (mod ) and .

Regular black holes in quadratic gravity

The first-order correction of the perturbative solution of the coupled equations of the quadratic gravity and nonlinear electrodynamics is constructed, with the zeroth-order solution coinciding with the ones given by Ayón-Beato and Garcí a and by Bronnikov. It is shown that a simple generalization of the Bronnikov's electromagnetic Lagrangian leads to the solution expressible in terms of the polylogarithm functions. The solution is parametrized by two integration constants and depends on two free parameters. By the boundary conditions the integration constants are related to the charge and total mass of the system as seen by a distant observer, whereas the free parameters are adjusted to make the resultant line element regular at the center. It is argued that various curvature invariants are also regular there that strongly suggests the regularity of the spacetime. Despite the complexity of the problem the obtained solution can be studied analytically. The location of the event horizon of the black hole, its asymptotics and temperature are calculated. Special emphasis is put on the extremal configuration.

Sequential convergence of regular measures on prehilbert space logics

This paper investigates Nikodym-type and Cafiero-type convergence theorems for regular charges in the general set-up of projection logics of prehilbert spaces. For this aim we also characterize bounded regular charges.
