Laurent polynomials and Eulerian numbers

Duistermaat and van der Kallen show that there is no nontrivial complex Laurent polynomial all of whose powers have a zero constant term. Inspired by this, Sturmfels poses two questions: Do the constant terms of a generic Laurent polynomial form a regular sequence? If so, then what is the degree of the associated zero-dimensional ideal? In this note, we prove that the Eulerian numbers provide the answer to the second question. The proof involves reinterpreting the problem in terms of toric geometry.     

Strongly amenable semigroups and nonlinear fixed point properties

A semi-topological semigroup is strongly left amenable if there is a compact left ideal group in the spectrum of its LUC-compactification. In this paper, we want to study those objects, and study some fixed point property related to non-expansive mapping and other similar kind of mapping.     

A lattice point problem on the regular tree

Huber (1956) [8] considered the following problem on the hyperbolic plane H. Consider a strictly hyperbolic subgroup of automorphisms on H with compact quotient, and choose a conjugacy class in this group. Count the number of vertices inside an increasing ball, which are images of a fixed point x∈H under automorphisms in the chosen conjugacy class, and describe the asymptotic behaviour of this number as the size of the ball goes to infinity. We use a well-known analogy between the hyperbolic plane and the regular tree to solve this problem on the regular tree.

Congruence triples on regular semigroups and their generalizations

In this paper, we introduce the concept of VT-congruence triples on a regular semigroup S and show how such triples can be constructed by using the equivalences on S/ℒ, S/R and the special congruences on S. Also, such congruence triples are characterized so that an associated congruence can be uniquely determined by a given congruence triple. Moreover, we also consider the VH-congruence pairs on an orthocryptogroup.     

Guided surface modes in a hollow slab waveguide with a left-handed material substrate or cover

The structural dispersion characteristics of guided surface modes in a hollow slab waveguide with a left-handed material substrate or cover are investigated. Dispersion relation is derived by using normalized parameters, and universal dispersion curves have been obtained analytically, by solving transcendental dispersion equations in a reverse way. Existence condition, mode degeneracy and other dispersion properties of guided surface modes have been discussed for different ? or μ of three layers for this substrate or cover layer.

本文研究左截断数据(U,V)含θ的Fisher信息量,并给出了基于分布和失效率表示的两个表达式.特别在Koziol-Green模型下研究左截断观测数据(U,V)含θ的Fisher信息量与完全数据X含θ的Fisher信息量的关系,得出在该模型下左截断观测数据(U,V)含θ的Fisher信息量不仅未损失,反而增加的结论.
