Braiding structures on formal Poisson groups and classical solutions of the QYBE

If is a quasitriangular Lie bialgebra, the formal Poisson group can be given a braiding structure. This was achieved by Weinstein and Xu using purely geometrical means, and independently by the authors by means of quantum groups. In this paper we compare these two approaches. First, we show that the braidings they produce share several similar properties (in particular, the construction is functorial); secondly, in the simplest case (G=SL₂) they do coincide. The question then rises of whether they are always the same this is positively answered in a separate paper.     

Recognition of subgroups of direct products of hyperbolic groups

We give examples of direct products of three hyperbolic groups in which there cannot exist an algorithm to decide which finitely presented subgroups are isomorphic.

     

A strong law of large numbers for generalized random sets from the viewpoint of empirical processes

In this article we prove a strong law of large numbers for Borel measurable nonseparably valued random elements in the case of generalized random sets.

本文讨论半直线上随机环境中的随机游动的常返性。在独立环境下，主要通过强大数定律，找到了非常返和正常返的一个充分条件下，并将这一结果推广到一些特殊情情形。在一般的随机环境下，主要通过数列的有界性，给出了常返与零常返的一个充分条件。     

用遗传算法拟合电力系统负荷短期预测的非线性模型

本文运用遗传算法，根据河北省１９８５—１９９０年春节期间每小时用电量的统计数字，建立了非线性回归模型（Ｇｏｍｐｅｒｔｄｚ），结果表明，遗传算法性能良好，可望成为电力系统各种非线性模型辨识的有效手段。     

光照与彩陶俑表面色变关系的实验研究

本文以秦彩俑表面色彩为研究对象,通过光照实验与色彩变化的色度测量,分析了光照引起彩俑颜料色变的规律,为秦彩俑这一大型重点文物的色彩保护提供了科学理论依据.     

Central quotients of biautomatic groups

The quotient of a biautomatic group by a subgroup of the center is shown to be biautomatic. The main tool used is the Neumann-Shapiro triangulation of S ^n-1, associated to a biautomatic structure on . Among other applications, a question of Gersten and Short is settled by showing that direct factors of biautomatic groups are biautomatic. Received: October 4, 1994

Self-organized critical pinball machine

The nature of self-organized criticality (SOC) is pin-pointed with a simple mechanical model: a pinball machine. Its phase space is fully parameterized by two integer variables, one describing the state of an on-going game, the other describing the state of the machine. This is the simplest possible SOC system, having only two degrees of freedom and no spatial correlations, yet is not solvable by analytical means.
