The effect of side substituents on rotation hindrance in polyheteroarylenes

Hindered rotation was considered in calculations of the conformational parameters of a series of polyheteroarylenes with bulky side substituents by the Monte-Carlo method. Within the range of experimental errors, the results of calculations for several polyarylates coincide with the values of conformational rigidity, determined from hydrodynamic experimental data. The proposed procedure was used to estimate the rigidities of a number of polymers with bulky side substuents for which experimental determination is difficult. Oxobenzo[f]benzopyrans as new fluorescent photolabile protecting groups for the carboxylic function

The properties of three oxobenzo[f]benzopyrans as new fluorogenic photolabile protecting groups for the carboxylic function of amino acids were studied. Fluorescent amino acid conjugates were efficiently prepared and characterised. Photodeprotection of these compounds was carried out by irradiation at 300, 350 and 419 nm, the most suitable wavelength being 350 nm, on account of short irradiation times and good deprotection yields.     

Tribological properties of ormosil coatings

Transparent plastics are not scratch resistant. The damage leads to a loss of optical properties. Coatings prepared using either tetraethoxysilane or colloidal silica particles embedded in glymo is a way to avoid these disadvantages. Tribological experiments are carried out to better understand the surface modification due to a sliding friction. It is shown that the wear track is not directly related to usual mechanical properties such as Young's modulus and the hardness of the coating. The different stages leading to material loss are discussed in term of particle removal and debris circulation (accumulation or elimination) through the friction track. The mechanical properties of the film combined with the film to substrate adhesion are expected to play an important role as it can be deduced from results obtained as a function of the coating composition.     

钙钛矿型CaSiO_3解压缩和重压缩过程的分子动力学模拟

用分子动力学模拟方法 (MD)研究了 3 0 0K时钙钛矿型CaSiO3 ,从高压到负压的解压缩过程 .MD模拟获得的P V关系与实验数据相近 ,与已报道的MD模拟数据基本一致 ,所得体积模量也在实验数据分布范围内 .减压缩和重压缩的MD模拟数据与实验结果相似 .钙钛矿型CaSiO3 解压缩成非晶态时 ,存在两个结构破坏阶段 :破坏硅氧八面体和破坏钙氧二十面体 .当钙氧二十面体被破坏后 ,重压缩不能得到钙钛矿型结构 .只要钙氧二十面体未被破坏 ,重压缩可恢复钙钛矿型结构 .本研究得到的结果尚未见相关报道 .由MD模拟数据计算了CaSiO3 系统的红外光谱 ,分析这些数据可知钙钛矿型CaSiO3 解压缩非晶化是一个二阶软模相变 .研究表明钙钛矿型CaSiO3 结构存在一个等容的亚稳极限 ,其解压缩非晶化是一个受动力学控制的亚稳状态 .     

Polymeric Pd catalysts for the reduction of acetamidocinnamic acid azlactone and its solvolysis products

Pd complexes have been obtained from linear and cross-linked copolymers ofR,S-, R-, andS-1-(4-vinylphenyl)ethylamine (1) with styrene and divinylbenzene. Reduction of these compounds gave catalysts which were active in the reductive solvolysis of -acetaminocinnamic acid azlactone (2) and hydrogenation of the solvolysis products -acetamidocinnamic acid (ACA), its esters, and its 1-phenylethylamide. The catalysts showed no enantioselective properties in the reductive hydrolysis, but were more active than the catalyst obtained in the absence of the polymer (the monomeric analog). The use of polymeric catalysts has shown that, in reductive aminolysis, the chiral nucleophile plays the dominant part in determining the stereoselectivity of the reaction, rather than the chiral ligand of the catalytic complex. The polymer matrix stabilizes the low-valent state of the palladium in the complex. In the hydrogenation of ACA and its esters, the catalyst on the cross-linked polymer is much more active than its monomeric analog, but showed no enantioselectivity. Hydrogenation of acetamidocinnamic acidR-andS-1-phenylethylamides on a chiral Pd-polymer catalyst occurred with double asymmetric induction.Deceased.N. D. Synthesis and characterization of surface-cyanofunctionalized poly (N-isopropylacrylamide) latexes

 A series of P[N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM)] latexes with different contents of cyano groups were successfully prepared by either seeded or shot-growth polymerizations of an aqueous solution containing acrylonitrile (AN) onto a seed P[NIPAM] latex, respectively, and further characterized by FT-IR, ¹H-NMR, elemental analysis, as well as by quasielastic light scattering (QELS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). All prepared surface-cyanofunctionalized P[NIPAM] latexes exhibited the same range of lower critical solution temperature (LCST) as a pure P[NIPAM] latex. The shot polymerization process proved more efficient at yielding cyano derivatized latexes than the seeded polymerization technique. The amount of incorporated cyano groups onto the particles was determined with a good correlation both by ¹H-NMR and elemental analysis. The higher the amount of initially introduced AN monomer in the reaction mixture, the more cyano groups were incorporated onto the particles. The surface of the particles with high content of cyano groups appeared quite rough by SEM in comparison with that of the pure P[NIPAM] particles. Optimum gas chromatographic conditions in wall-coated capillary columns. Extended and simplified forms of the Golay-equation

Band broadening in capillary columns is satisfactorily described by the Golay-equation extended to situations of appreciable pressure drop by Giddings. In practice, however, several simplifications are often made. The effect of these simplifications on the calculated values of the minimum plate height and optimum carrier gas velocity are treated systematically.     

Oxidation of thiol compounds by molecular oxygen in aqueous solutions

Side self-oxidation of thiols was studied. It was found that these reactions in neutral and alkaline solutions are induced by impurities of variable-valence metals. The ability of transition metals to catalyze oxidation of thiols changes in the order Cu > Mn > Fe > Ni Co. The plot of the self-oxidation rate vs. pH passes through a maximum whose position on the pH scale depends on both the nature of metal and the structure of the thiol oxidized. For thiols having different structures, the kinetic orders in reactions catalyzed by copper ions differently vary with pH, which is apparently associated with the formation of complexes possessing different catalytic activity.
