Bounds for regularity and coregularity of graded modules

Let M be a finitely generated graded module over a Noetherian homogeneous ring R with local base ring (R ₀, m₀). If R ₀ is of dimension one, then we show that reg ⁱ⁺¹(M) and coreg ⁱ⁺¹(M) are bounded for all i ∈ ℕ₀. We improve these bounds, if in addition, R ₀ is either regular or analytically irreducible of unequal characteristic.     

An Auslander-type result for Gorenstein-projective modules

An artin algebra A is said to be CM-finite if there are only finitely many, up to isomorphisms, indecomposable finitely generated Gorenstein-projective A-modules. We prove that for a Gorenstein artin algebra, it is CM-finite if and only if every its Gorenstein-projective module is a direct sum of finitely generated Gorenstein-projective modules. This is an analogue of Auslander's theorem on algebras of finite representation type [M. Auslander, A functorial approach to representation theory, in: Representations of Algebras, Workshop Notes of the Third Internat. Conference, in: Lecture Notes in Math., vol. 944, Springer-Verlag, Berlin, 1982, pp. 105-179; M. Auslander, Representation theory of artin algebras II, Comm. Algebra (1974) 269-310].     

The Bass Conjecture and Group von Neumann Algebras

The precise relationship between the Bass conjecture for the Hattori–Stallings trace for projective ZG-modules and the map from reduced K-theory of ZG to reduced K-theory of the von Neumann algebra, NG, of G, of G is determined. As a consequence it is shown this map is zero for all groups G. It is also shown that the map induced on K-theory from the inclusion of NG to the ring of closed, densely defined operators affiliated to NG is an isomorphism. Together with the above result, this gives some positive evidence for the validity of the Division Ring Conjecture for torsion free groups.     

Stanley decompositions and partitionable simplicial complexes

We study Stanley decompositions and show that Stanley’s conjecture on Stanley decompositions implies his conjecture on partitionable Cohen–Macaulay simplicial complexes. We also prove these conjectures for all Cohen–Macaulay monomial ideals of codimension 2 and all Gorenstein monomial ideals of codimension 3. Dedicated to Takayuki Hibi on the occasion of his fiftieth birthday.     

关于(m,n)-凝聚模与预包络

In this paper,let m,n be two fixed positive integers and M be a right R-module,we define (m,n)-M-flat modules and (m,n)-coherent modules.A right R-module F is called (m,n) M-flat if every homomorphism from an (n,m)-presented right R-module into F factors through a module in addM.A left S-module M is called an (m,n)-coherent module if MR is finitely presented,and for any (n,m)-presented right R-module K,Horn(K,M) is a finitely generated left S-module,where S = End(MR).We mainly characterize (m,n)-coherent modules in terms of preenvelopes (which are monomorphism or epimorphism) of modules.Some properties of (m,n)-coherent rings and coherent rings are obtained as corollaries.     

Torsion Endo-Trivial Modules

We prove that the group T(G) of endo-trivial modules for a noncyclic finite p-group G is detected on restriction to the family of subgroups which are either elementary Abelian of rank 2 or (almost) extraspecial. This result is closely related to the problem of finding the torsion subgroup of T(G). We give the complete structure of T(G) when G is dihedral, semi-dihedral, or quaternion.     

Connected components of the category of elementary abelian p-subgroups

We determine the maximal number of conjugacy classes of maximal elementary abelian subgroups of rank 2 in a finite p-group G, for an odd prime p. Namely, it is p if G has rank at least 3 and it is p+1 if G has rank 2. More precisely, if G has rank 2, there are exactly 1,2,p+1, or possibly 3 classes for some 3-groups of maximal nilpotency class.     

Homological Properties of Quantum Polynomials

We study the endomorphim semigroup of a general quantum polynomial ring, its finite groups of automorphisms, and homological properties, as a module over the skew group ring of a finite group of automorphisms. Moreover, properties of the division ring of fractions are considered.     

On a class of coherent regular rings

The paper investigates a special class of quasi-local rings. It is shown that these rings are coherent and regular in the sense that every finitely generated submodule of a free module has a finite free resolution.

     

The Lehmer inequality and the Mordell-Weil theorem for Drinfeld modules

In this paper we prove several Lehmer type inequalities for Drinfeld modules which will enable us to prove certain Mordell-Weil type structure theorems for Drinfeld modules.
