The W-convexity and normal structure in banach spaces

Let X be a Banach space, S(X) - x ε X : #x02016; = 1 be the unit sphere of X.The parameter, modulus of W^*-convexity, W^*(ε) = inf <(x − y)/2, f_x> : x, y S(X), x − y ≥ ε, f_x Δ_x , where 0 ≤ ε ≤ 2 and Δ_x S(X^*) be the set of norm 1 supporting functionals of S(X) at x, is investigated_ The relationship among uniform nonsquareness, uniform normal structure and the parameter W^*(ε) are studied, and a known result is improved. The main result is that for a Banach space X, if there is ε, where 0 < ε < 1/2, such that W^*(1 + ε) > ε/2 where W^*(1 + ε) = lim_→ε W^* (1 + ), then X has normal structure.     

The nonrelativistic limit in radiation hydrodynamics: I. Weak entropy solutions for a model problem

This paper is concerned with a model system for radiation hydrodynamics in multiple space dimensions. The system depends singularly on the light speed c and consists of a scalar nonlinear balance law coupled via an integral-type source term to a family of radiation transport equations. We first show existence of entropy solutions to Cauchy problems of the model system in the framework of functions of bounded variation. This is done by using difference schemes and discrete ordinates. Then we establish strong convergence of the entropy solutions, indexed with c, as c goes to infinity. The limit function satisfies a scalar integro-differential equation.     

ψ(3770)→J/ψπ+π—强跃迁过程的首次观测

观测到ψ(3770)衰变到J/ψπ⁺π^—非DD末态迹象.利用工作在北京正负电子对撞机上的北京谱仪探测器在质心系能量3.773GeV附近获取的8.0±0.5pb^-1数据样本,共观测到6.8±3.0个ψ(3770)→J/ψπ⁺π^—事例.由此得到的分支比为BF(ψ(3770)→J/ψπ⁺π^—)=(0.59±0.26±0.16)%,其对应的分宽度为Γ(ψ(3770)→J/ψπ⁺π^—)=(139±61±41)keV.     

度量空间的序列商,k-映象

本文给出了度量空间序列商．肛映象的-些内部刻画。证明了空间X是度量空间的序列商。肛映象当且仅当X具有紧有限k-闭cs*-覆盖列的点星sn-网，当且仅当X具有紧有限k-闭覆盖列的点星网．作为上述结果的-个推论．不仅得到了空间X是度量空间序列商，k-映象当且仅当X是度量空间的k-映象，而且还证明了空间X是度量空间当且仅当X具有局部有限(紧有限)闭(肛闭)覆盖列的点星弱邻域网．这里“闭”(“k闭”)不能省略．     

C*-Algebras and Controlled Topology

We describe some aspects of the relationship between the controlled topology and C*-algebra approaches to the Novikov conjecture.

Translation invariant topologies on commutative *-algebras

Let A be a commutative *-algebra. Under certain conditions on the involution, we construct a topology makingA a HausdorffQ-ring with continuous involution and inversion; this topology is induced by anA-valued norm.Applying the previous considerations to the algebraC(X) of continuous complex-valued functions over a topological spaceX, we obtain a new characterization of Weierstrass spaces.Furthermore, we provide every projective finitely generated moduleM over a topological ring R with a unique topology, under whichM is a topologicalR-module and every R-linear mapf :M N is continuous, for any topologicalR-moduleN. A note on commutation relations and finite dimensional approximations

In this article we show that the main C*-algebras describing the canonical commutation relations of quantum physics, i.e., the Weyl and resolvent algebras, are in the class of Følner C*-algebras, a class of C*-algebras admitting a kind of finite approximations of Følner type. In particular, we show that the tracial states of the resolvent algebra are uniform locally finite dimensional.
