Development of a capillary electrophoretic method for determination of plasma clearance of iohexol in dogs and cats

Renal function can be monitored by estimation of the glomerular filtration rate (GFR), for example, through measurement of the plasma clearance of a marker that is freely filtrated through the kidney without reabsorption. It has been proposed that iohexol is the most accurate marker for GFR determination in cats and dogs. However, there is a need for a validated capillary electrophoretic method that covers the concentration range for a full curve clearance estimate of iohexol. In the final method, the plasma samples were protein precipitated and the supernatant was analyzed in a background electrolyte containing borate buffer (0.06 m , pH 10.0). The method developed was proved to be linear (concentration range 18– 2900 mg/L) and had a good precision (e.g. 2.3–2.9% at 88 mg/L) and accuracy (e.g. 101–105% at 88 mg/L). Finally, the method was compared with a previously published and validated HPLC‐UV method by parallel analysis of clinical plasma samples from dogs and cats administered Omnipaque®. This comparison showed excellent agreement between the two methods and no proportional or systematic error was observed. The optimisation of the energy demand in the application of dead-end filtration in an immersed membrane bioreactor applied to groundwater denitrification has been studied. Filtration cycle length was varied at a set flux to control the amount of foulant deposited at the membrane surface. Physical cleans comprising a simultaneous backflush and gas injection were subsequently instigated and the reversibility of the deposit determined by the residual resistance, Rres. Examination of Rres versus flux and cycle length variation indicated an operational envelope where limited fouling occurred. The transition from limited fouling to extensive fouling was indicated by a parameter based on the critical accumulated mass, indicating incipient deposit consolidation. The transition between regions became less severe when the solids retention time was increased from 10 to 25 and 40 days. This was apparently related to a shift in bulk physical characteristics. Nevertheless, low residual fouling was observed during long-term filtration when operating below the critical mass, resulting in a 20× reduction in energy demand over that of constant gas injection. 相似文献

Solvent-free reactions were used for the synthesis of a series of imidazolium-based ionic salts: 3,3′-[pyridine-2,6-diylbis(methylene)]bis(1-R-1H-imidazol-3-ium)chloride; (R = methyl, ethyl, butyl, isobutyl, hexyl, and benzyl). A simple and effective filtration process was used to isolate all the products in high purity and with yields ?93% within a 24 h period. Persistent homology has emerged as a popular technique for the topological simplification of big data, including biomolecular data. Multidimensional persistence bears considerable promise to bridge the gap between geometry and topology. However, its practical and robust construction has been a challenge. We introduce two families of multidimensional persistence, namely pseudomultidimensional persistence and multiscale multidimensional persistence. The former is generated via the repeated applications of persistent homology filtration to high‐dimensional data, such as results from molecular dynamics or partial differential equations. The latter is constructed via isotropic and anisotropic scales that create new simiplicial complexes and associated topological spaces. The utility, robustness, and efficiency of the proposed topological methods are demonstrated via protein folding, protein flexibility analysis, the topological denoising of cryoelectron microscopy data, and the scale dependence of nanoparticles. Topological transition between partial folded and unfolded proteins has been observed in multidimensional persistence. The separation between noise topological signatures and molecular topological fingerprints is achieved by the Laplace–Beltrami flow. The multiscale multidimensional persistent homology reveals relative local features in Betti‐0 invariants and the relatively global characteristics of Betti‐1 and Betti‐2 invariants. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 相似文献

A method is described for determination of selenium in sediment by isotope-dilution inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry
with an octapole reaction cell (ID–ICP–ORCMS). Sediment samples were digested with HNO3, HClO4, and HF, and the digestion included an elaborate evaporation process to remove bromine from the digested solution. Simple
strong cation-exchange disk filtration was used to remove rare earth elements (REE) from the digested solution, because REE2+ seriously interfere with Se isotopes (i.e. 156Gd2+ with 78Se+, 160Gd2+ with 80Se+). Addition of acetic acid to the filtrate was examined to improve the sensitivity of ICP–ORCMS measurement of Se+ by means of a carbon-enhancement effect. The interfering for selenium isotopes were almost eliminated by use of H2 as reaction gas. Interference from BrH+ formed in the reaction cell was negligible because the Br was removed in the evaporation process. Approximately 99.5% of
REE were removed by cation-exchange disk filtration yet more than 99% of Se remained in the filtrate solution. The intensity
for Se+ was enhanced approximately fourfold by addition of 5% (v/v) of acetic acid whereas that for was barely enhanced. Measured 80Se/78Se ratios in unspiked digested solutions of the sample were in good agreement with that for an Se standard solution. The analytical
results for Se in the certified reference materials MESS-3 and PACS-1 were in good agreement with their certified values,
with small uncertainties.

This paper presents a theoretical study of the effects of operating parameters on the behaviour of an industrial crossflow filtration unit. A continuous three stage unit and its application to yeast cell harvesting are considered. A model of standard industrial processing is developed, and the influence of dead volumes, start-up procedure, crossflow and permeation velocities and maximum transmembrane pressure are investigated. A theoretical analysis is presented of viscous incompressible laminar flow in a pipe which rotates around an axis held at small angle with respect to its symmetry-axis. Analogous to the results of Barua and Benton [1, 2], solutions in closed-form are given for circulatory flows in the cross-sectional plane of the pipe due to Coriolis forces in combination with Hagen-Poiseuille flow through the pipe. The solutions are used to derive analytical expressions for trajectories of solid or liquid particles entrained in the gas and being subject to centrifugation and the said secondary flows. It is shown that despite centrifugation, particles can be locked into circulatory trajectories thus remaining suspended in the gas flowing through the pipe. 相似文献
