There is much enthusiasm now-a-days for efforts to improve membrane performances. Membrane modification is one of the critical approaches needed for the development of membrane science and technology. The beauty of research in this orientation is that it is a dynamic process that moves forward slowly and recommendations are made based on the science available. In this regard sulfonation of polysulfones is an excellent move. The present review demonstrates different sulfonation strategies of polysulfones as well as promoting applications in pressure driven separation sciences (viz. salt, macromolecule, organic separation from water). Vapour–liquid equilibria and densities for the ternary system chloroform + tetrahydrofuran + cyclohexane and for the binary mixtures containing chloroform have been determined at 298.15 K. Vapour–liquid equilibrium data have been collected by head-space gas-chromatographic analysis of the vapour phase directly withdrawn from an equilibration apparatus. Density measurements have been carried out by means of a vibrating tube densimeter. Molar excess Gibbs energies GE and volumes VE, as well as activity coefficients and apparent molar volumes of the components, have been obtained from the measured quantities and discussed. The binary chloroform + tetrahydrofuran displays negative deviations from ideality, while chloroform + cyclohexane positive deviations, for both volume and Gibbs energy. The GE's and VE's for the ternary system are positive in the region rich in cyclohexane while negative in the region rich in chloroform + tetrahydrofuran. This indicates that hydrogen bonding between chloroform and tetrahydrofuran molecules produces negative values of GE and VE and strongly influences the behaviour of the ternary system.  相似文献

Densities of N, H, and NH active species have been detected by laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) in N2-xH2 dc flowing discharges. A peak value of N atom densities far x = 0.2–0.5% and a plateau value of H atom densities between x = 1% and 90% in post-discharge conditions (0.05 sec, p = 2 torr) has been found. Comparison between LIF measurements of N atoms and the trend of the N2(B, v = II) population shows that the emission from this state can be used for monitoring N atoms. We propose a numerical procedure for the calculation of the electrostatic repulsion force between two identical, parallel surfaces immersed in anab electrolyte solution. These surfaces are coated with an ion-penetrable membrane carrying fixed charges. The amount of fixed charges is governed by the dissociation of the functional groups in the membrane phase. The effect of pH on the degree of dissociation of these functional groups is taken into account. The difficulty of extensive use of Jacobi elliptic function in the numerical treatment of Poisson-Boltzmann equation can be circumvented by resorting to the present algorithm.  相似文献

Sorting tags are oligomeric structures that can be used as protecting groups or chiral auxiliaries enabling solution-phase mixture syntheses of multiple tagged compounds in one pot and allowing for facile and predictable chromatographic separation of products at the end of synthetic sequences. Perfluorinated hydrocarbon and oligomeric ethylene glycol (OEG) derivatives are known classes of sorting tags. Herein we describe the preparation of OEGylated chiral oxazolidinones and their use in asymmetric solution-phase mixture aldol reactions. Through the use of such oxazolidinones based on tyrosine four different individually tagged aldol adducts were obtained as a mixture, chromatographically demixed, detagged, and it was shown that these processes gave the desired aldol products in good yield and enantioselectivity.  相似文献

Shear viscosity deviations Δη have been investigated by using density (ρ) and kinematic viscosity (ν) measurements for isobutyric acid + water (IBA + W) mixtures over the entire range of mole fractions at atmospheric pressure and at two temperatures (301.15 and 315.15 K). This study extends the temperature range from the five other temperatures investigated in a previous work, 1.055 K≤(TT c )≤14.055 K, both far from and close to the critical temperature. This system exhibits very large positive values of Δη due to increased hydrogen bonding interactions and the correlation length between unlike molecules in the critical region, and to very large differences between the molar volumes of the pure components at low temperatures. The results were also fitted with the Redlich–Kister polynomial equations and the recently proposed Herráez correlation equation. Comparisons between the two models at different temperatures and number of parameters are discussed. We note that, in this system where the shear viscosity η as a function of mole fraction (x 1) of IBA presents a maximum, experimental data are in agreement with the two correlation models when more than three parameters are employed, especially for temperatures far from the critical temperature.  相似文献

It is shown that expectation values of Poisson‐distributed random numbers exist not only for the well known positive integer powers but also for negative integer powers. A recursion formula for the calculation of expectation values of powers differing by one is given. This recursion formula helps to find an analytical representation for both positive and negative integer powers in terms of the hypergeometric function.  相似文献

A nonlinear wave equation of elastic rod taking account of finite deformation, transverse inertia and shearing strain is derived by means of the Hamilton principle in this paper. Nonlinear wave equation and truncated nonlinear wave equation are solved by the Jacobi elliptic sine function expansion and the third kind of Jacobi elliptic function expansion method. The exact periodic solutions of these nonlinear equations are obtained, including the shock wave solution and the solitary wave solution. The necessary condition of exact periodic solutions, shock solution and solitary solution existence is discussed.  相似文献

In this paper, a robust projection method on a locally refined mesh is proposed for two‐ and three‐dimensional viscous incompressible flows. The proposed method is robust not only when the interface between two meshes is located in a smooth flow region but also when the interface is located in a flow region with large gradients and/or strong unsteadiness. In numerical simulations, a locally refined mesh saves many grid points in regions of relatively small gradients compared with a uniform mesh. For efficiency and ease of implementation, we consider a two‐level blocked structure, for which both of the coarse and fine meshes are uniform Cartesian ones individually. Unfortunately, the introduction of the two‐level blocked mesh results in an important but difficult issue: coupling of the coarse and fine meshes. In this paper, by properly addressing the issue of the coupling, we propose a stable and accurate projection method on a locally refined staggered mesh for both two‐ and three‐dimensional viscous incompressible flows. The proposed projection method is based on two principles: the linear interpolation technique and the consistent discretization of both sides of the pressure Poisson equation. The proposed algorithm is straightforward owing to the linear interpolation technique, is stable and accurate, is easy to extend from two‐ to three‐dimensional flows, and is valid even when flows with large gradients cross the interface between the two meshes. The resulting pressure Poisson equation is non‐symmetric on a locally refined mesh. The numerical results for a series of exact solutions for 2D and 3D viscous incompressible flows verify the stability and accuracy of the proposed projection method. The method is also applied to some challenging problems, including turbulent flows around particles, flows induced by impulsively started/stopped particles, and flows induced by particles near solid walls, to test the stability and accuracy. A dual reciprocity boundary element method is given to obtain the solution in terms of velocity and induced magnetic field for the study of MHD (magnetohydrodynamic) flow through a rectangular duct having insulating walls. The equations are transformed to two types of nonlinear Poisson equations and the right-hand sides in these equations are approximated using combinations of two classes of radial basis functions (the value of the function and its normal derivatives are utilized for approximation). Computations are carried out for several values of the Hartman number (0 h M h 10) by using constant boundary elements. Comparisons are made for two types of formulations and for traditional and osculatory type approximations of the right-hand side functions. It is found that osculatory interpolation gives better results than traditional interpolation and the type of the Poisson equation, which contains derivative of the unknown function, is better than the other type, which contains unknown function only. The results for velocity and induced magnetic field are illustrated by some selected graphs.  相似文献
