The objective is to derive the probability distribution of the frequency of occurrence of a subsequence within a nucleotide sequence under the hypothesis that the four nucleotides occur at random and with equal probability. We also consider the Compound Poisson approximation for the same distribution. The exact probability distribution can be obtained by the finite Markov chain imbedding technique introduced by Fu and Koutras (1994), however we can manage the case as well if the probabilities are not all equal. The compound Poisson approximation by Stein-Chen's method can be used to develop an approximate probability distribution with proper setting of the definition of the sets of dependence. In this paper, we prove two-sided pointwise estimates for the Green function of a parabolic operator with singular first order term on a C1,1-cylindrical domain . Basing on these estimates, we establish the equivalence of the parabolic measure, the adjoint parabolic measure and the surface measure on the lateral boundary of . Concepts of programmability and compact programmability are defined relative to a class of modified Poisson series. Lie-series-based canonical perturbation methods from astrodynamics are applied to the Hamiltonian system boundary-value problem, and more usual methods are applied to the perturbed Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman partial differential equation, in order to obtain a complete set of equations for the perturbed optimal feedback control law for both infinite-time and finite-time regulator problems. The relative advantages of each approach are evaluated. A major aim of the paper is to determine the largest class of perturbations, within the set of Poisson series, for which the equations can be derived on a computer by symbolic manipulation. The more general the class, the more accurate the perturbation solution can be, for a given order. The solutions developed are complete; all that remains is to program them in order to have computerized derivations of the optimal nonlinear feedback control laws.This research was supported by NSF Grant No. ENG-78-10232. Three limit theorems describing asymptotic distribution of vacancy in general multivariate coverage problems are proved, in which nk-dimensional spheres are distributed within a k-dimensional unit cube according to a density f. The first result (a central limit theorem) describes the case where the proportion of vacancy converges to a fixed constant lying between 0 and 1. The last two results treat the case where the proportion of vacancy tends to 1 as n → ∞. Results of this nature have hitherto been available only for restricted k and/or for f equal to the uniform density.  相似文献
